Yeh its actually unfair on Mads playing in this team, our defence is genuinely one of the worst I've ever seen at this level. Not one of the defenders in our squad are actually good enough and the midfield isn't much better.

At least the squad is so bad that if we do it right replacing them with better players shouldnt even cost that much. Genuinely think you could improve every position in that backline for a total of £30mil.

2 new full backs

1 CB who has pace and positional sense

1 creative & combative CM

1 starting striker

2 wide attacking players / wingers

Had a look at some players whose contracts are up in 2025, so maybe their clubs would consider cashing in:

 

RB - Ridle Baku (26) - Wolfsburg - very versatile player who could also play right mid/right wing and centre mid - could be a very suitable option for an inverted full back

 

CB - Olivier Boscagli (27) - PSV - left footed centre back who was at PSV at the same time as Ruud, although was injured for most of the season he did play a few games under him

 

LB - Sergio Reguilon (27) - Spurs - was very good on loan at Brentford last season and definitely not wanted at Spurs, quite attacking as well so could be suitable if Ruud goes with his PSV tactics of the left back pushing high

I think our main problem is we can’t sell them. If we sell them at a loss will damage our PL meaning no point in selling unless we get a silly offer.

 

 

but as we all are aware we seemingly struggle to sell players at the moment

Lennon Miller at Motherwell. 18 years old. Apparently available for £5mil in January and is already twice the player Oliver Skipp is for 1/4 the fee. Shows how poor our scouting department has been recently.

In:

RB - Apparently we're in for Hiroki Sekine in the J-League. Japanese international.

LCB - Abakar Sylla from Strasbourg is apparently absolutely mustard.

ST - Maybe make use of some of RVN's contacts in the Eredivisie? Malik Tillman and Ricardo Pepi are two American strikers having a great season at PSV. Gettable? 

CM - KDH on loan. He's barely getting a sniff at Chelsea and his return would bring about enormous good will. 

 

Possibly a winger with Fatawu injured as well? 

 

Get rid of Faes, JJ, Soumare and terminate Edouard's loan.

Dont think you’re allowed to sell a player and get them back on loan in the same season. Might be wrong.

 

Can see us getting someone in on loan from Utd and RVN signing a couple from Holland.

Hear me out - Antony and Zirkzee might actually thrive at a club with lower expectations. Antony came from Ajax and Zirkzee is Dutch, most likely being known to RVN from his time in the Netherlands coaching setup.

 

A couple of real talents at PSV as well who would transform this team.

No but we'll send him back because if we want another loan we can't register him.  You can register 4 loans in a season but only have 2 registered at a time.  So if he's not registered, he's dead weight.

And so we can't have Maguire and Chilwell on loan, unless you're done with Buo.

We absolutely do need a Huth/Wasilewski figure (Bob Hazell for older readers) to bring some authority and organisation to the back four.

 

Who? I don’t know, but saw Ben Mee mentioned somewhere. If fit, I’d take Jonny Evans too (tho will now absent myself from FT for an hour or so while the anti-Evans brigade get stuck in!).

Can only have 2 PL players on loan at one time and max of 1 from any club
