Did this ever get painted over? I know there was talk of it and then if it got painted over moving it to somewhere else in the city.

Is it still in its original place?

All painted over bar the Vardy and King side.

This is the quote from back in the day ...

"He and Mark’s Electrical owner Mark Smithson have agreed to pay Mr Wilson £10,000 plus costs to repeat his labour of love.

Mr Levy said: “We have to move it because it just won’t fit in with what we are going to do here.

“The plan is to get the original artist to come down and repaint it and we’re just trying to sign off a new site in the town for it.

“One is close to the city centre and the other option is on a prominent route into the city"

I think it was something to do with the wall with Vardy and King the store didn't own that part or something I could be wrong though.

Lots of windows on the wall where most of the mural was

Do whoever owns the building not own the side with Vardy and King on? Always found it strange that side wasn't painted over.

The building has been converted into individual flats, each of those windows are separate flats. I guess the landlord owns the whole block but the side with Vardy & King on, is just the side of the end flat.

Fair enough, just found it strange that part wasn't painted over.

Soulsby promised a replacement - never happened.

This is all I can find

Threats have been made to staff at a shop where a mural celebrating Leicester City's 2016 Premier League title has been removed.

The painting in Kate Street was one of a series celebrating the club.

The manager of Bargain Buyz, which rents the front of the building, said online and phone messages had warned of be "repercussions".

The mural was removed in a redevelopment by new owners, but there were promises to repaint it elsewhere.

The building's owner Stephen Levy said: "It was always going to come off eventually. We decided in the best interests of the Leicester City supporters we would re-locate this in a more apt setting."

He said not many people looked at it in Kate Street and they have found a spot for it near the Highcross shopping centre, where it will go unless a better place is found.

"The artist [Richard Wilson] can't start until the beginning of August," Mr Levy said.

Mayor's Stance: Following public backlash and threats made toward staff at the site, Sir Peter Soulsby stated he would work to ensure the artwork was replaced or relocated to a more prominent and suitable setting.

Relocation plans: At the time of removal, the building's owner stated they intended to relocate the mural to a "more apt setting" near the Highcross shopping centre, though a direct 1-to-1 replacement of the original scale has not been officially confirmed at that site.

Status of Other Champions Murals

While the Kate Street wall is gone, other murals celebrating the 2016 triumph were commissioned around the city:

Claudio Ranieri ("Claudio Caesar"): A mural at 3 Bath Lane (near St Nicholas Circle) depicting Ranieri as a Roman Caesar was taken down in February 2019 because the paint was peeling. It was painted on a giant sheet and put into storage.

"Roy of the Rovers": A comic-book style mural remains at 30 East Bond Street.

"Earthquake": Located at 87 Burnmoor Street, this mural celebrates the fans as the "12th man".

Stadium Murals: The club commissioned artist Voyder to paint internal murals within the King Power Stadium concourses to preserve the memories of the title win.

Recent sightings in February 2026 indicate new, smaller street art gems celebrating the club continue to appear between the Town Hall and the Market.

Several murals from the original 2016 "Forever Fearless" collection remain visible in Leicester as of March 2026, though some have been removed or are subject to time limits.

Visible "Forever Fearless" Murals

These were commissioned by the city council and partners to celebrate the Premier League title win:

"Comic Book Heroics" (Roy of the Rovers style): Located at 30 East Bond Street, behind the Highcross Shopping Centre. It depicts the team's victory in the style of the classic 1950s comic book hero.

"Earthquake": Found at 87 Burnmoor Street near the King Power Stadium. This piece celebrates the fans as the "12th man".

"Football United": Located on the end wall of 17 Tudor Road. This mural by artists N4T4 and PHILTH celebrates the ethnic diversity of the club's supporters.

"I'm on Fire": A 12-metre mural on De Montfort University’s Clephan Building (Oxford Street). It features Jamie Vardy and the band Kasabian.

"Fearless Fox": A smaller panel at the entrance of Silver Walk (off Silver Street).

It’s a shame we don’t have more murals in the city really.

Is that absolute shocker still at the end of Tudor Road? The one where Jobber looks Chinese?

I'm wondering what the owner has done that 'wont fit in with what we are going to do'? The building is awful, weeds out the front, no pride, its hard to imagine it looking any worse. Just another appalling UK provincial city street scene

Should definitely have more, especially being a one club City.
