Ruud awakening for the Premier League!

Of course he had Gakpo for the first half of the season, looking at Simons role in that period it often changed between a RW, 8/10 and even a false 9. Don’t expect the likes of Buonanotte or El Khannouss to be used as a false 9, but thoroughly expect them to be used in a way like Simons was in the second half of PSV’s season. 
 

Also thanks for breaking down how Phillipp Max and Cody Gakpo were used in the first half of the season, good to see he is willing to be flexible with his full-backs. 
 

If he goes similar as he did at PSV, it’s going to be interesting to see how he operates Justin and Kristiansen. He might have to flip it around by using the LB as the inverted CB instead of the RB, with the RB bombing forward instead of the LB, then allowing either Buonanotte or El Khannouss to be used as a RW who drifts in as a 10. This would also be beneficial to Mavididi who can operate like Bakayoko did in the second half of PSV’s 22/23 season. 

I've been doing some more research for tonight's show and there's a lot to like about Ruud. That said, it must be said that the season after he left, Den Bosch came in and smashed the league with a fantastic style, changing the team to be a much higher pressing and front footed one. But it seems like Ruud laid the foundation work for that success.

 

Ruud does a lot of "Dutch" things, IE the use of a 433, groups of 3's and passing triangles, all of which is a joy to watch. He likes fast transitions, but doesn't seem as suicidal as Ten Hag was. My gut feeling is he will play a bit of a "diet coke" version of Maresca's system, which I think will suit all parties down to the ground. It also seems like he was very good at improving certain players, especially on the finishing side, which coudl really benefit Mavididi, Fatawu (when back) and Daka.

Do you have any predictions on what his dream starting 11 would be with our present squad?

Will be announcing tomorrow. If we get the likely beating off of Brentford it won’t be anything to do with Ruud and we start a fresh with West Ham. 
 

Exactly what Coventry have done with Lampard. Didn’t want his opening games to defeats vs Sheff Utd and Burnley!

I visited the Fanstore after work this afternoon. 

I didn't see any activity,  other than a DPD van, so if he was in the back, maybe they'll do away with a press conference,  and announce his appointment by throwing him over a wall into a neighbouring property 🤣

It’s actually quite common with clubs. Like sticking him in vs Chelsea first game.

 

Personally would have appointed him sooner rather than later. Still think Chelsea was a missed opportunity because we sat back too much
