Brian Barry-Murphy is likely the contingency and next seasons manager should Ruud go?

Never trust a man with two first names, let alone three.

Worry he'll show Man Utd way too respect and we'll be thrashed again. A team set up not to press, even though teams have got at Utd this season and profited. We're too weak in mentality and physicality, and have too many weak points across the squad which Ruud doesn't know how to combat.

Failure to act to sack or recruit players tomorrow shows we have given up on the season, and from where we were as a club in May that is appalling.

Would expect them to do a Dean Smith until the end of the season appointment to try and salvage the season like they did in the relegation season.

He'll be too busy lapping up applause and signing autographs

Any whispers this morning? I guess last week has bought him a few games but we're just waiting for the inevitable aren't we? Yes, the squad is weak but the right manager would keep us up, even if it was 17th.

Sorry, but I'm not convinced our Lord Jesus himself could keep a team with a CB partnership of Faes and Vestergaard in this league.

I dont think Top has lied to Ruud, i imagine any "are there funds to buy players" hopes Ruud had were answered with "yes*"

* If we sell players, there's squad places, Glover ticks it off, Rudkin ticks it off, and you want him :) (so no one really.)

With Cannon being sold and Hamza's loan, i still expect an attacking signing still if it ticks the boxes. So he's not walking for transfer inactivity.

He'd be taking an enormous risk to walk after the PSV mess. He knew the odds when he joined and realised we're highly likely to be relegated, he accepted the 3 year contract not an interim role. What are we supposed to do just let him sign whatever Dutch or Dutch league amateur like Ten Hag, he's not earned that right and is looking more and more like an over promoted youth coach a bit like Rudkin. That was the risk.

He's more likely to be sacked, especially if he's going to shit on the board. Which isn't a bad thing as it's looking more likely we have to prepare for a championship promotion.

He's just been sacked by Luton who are heading for League One

I wouldn't have him but this logic doesn't really work does it, Holloway got us relegated and took Blackpool up

A championship promotion?

When we go down it will be a case of maintaining  our championship status not promotion unfortunately

But we could try to change out tactics.

Play a low block to negate our lack of speed.

Play 3 cb's with wingbacks to sure up the defence.

Play counter attack football.

But no we roll out 4231 without the personnel. Play a high line and tic tac pass it around and wonder why we concede 3 goals a game.

I agree to a point, and 100% worth a try.

But we have little pace in the squad to play on the counter.

Not sure 3 poor CBs is better then 2, and we are tragic a defending cross.

We need Wilf back and a new CB who a beast and a leader to stand a chance!

Whilst they ultimately still lost, although that goal ruled out to equaliser was ridiculous, Villa made 4 changes at half time. That decision not to make changes is not a manager who's got the motivation to battle here.

Ruud addressed this post match- clearly he thought at 3 0 there was nothing more he could do. However totally agree that he could have made 2 or 3 changes at half time just to send out a message to players and fans that we need  have a go at getting something. I still don't know what has happened with Buonanotte surely he would have been worth a punt he was so good at the start of the season or has his confidence dropped.

No chance. Prime Wenger or Sir Alex wouldn't keep this Championship squad up. The defence is possibly League 1 standard.

I’d take Dyche any day of the week….

He’s use to not working with any money. Always use to make comments about us when he was at Burnley
