Standards have hit rock bottom if we keep a man that's clearly not up to the job

It's waving a white flag and the club needs 24/7 protest outside the ground if its what it takes for it to  wake up and stop sleep walking into complete mediocrity on a scale of the likes of Norwich

I keep thinking is there a stand off where he won’t accept an NDA as part of a termination because he wants to highlight the obstacles (as he sees them) which stopped him being successful?
and the club don’t want him to reveal what an amateur outfit we are to the world … so he’s digging his heels in and saying he wants to stay so they have to sack him and that way he gets to speak out

They’re probably mindful of the fact that he walked out on PSV because he felt he wasn’t supported by the board and are hoping that if they make him feel he’s not supported here he’ll quit at the end of the season - and save us the compo money.

Sounds about right. They'll be wrong though as usual - obviously.

As unlikely as this is, if it did turn out to be the case he'd have my eternal respect, regardless of how it's gone on the pitch.  :fishing:

If he is leaving it will only be announced once the legal and financial terms have all been agreed and perhaps this is where the problems lie.

Perhaps there is a reduced pay off clause, maybe there isn’t, perhaps Ruud has justification that he was lied to about January transfers and therefore is unwilling to accept the proposed pay off or perhaps the terms of his settlement, as others have said given that he didn’t get the support he believed he was promised he doesn’t want to agree to certain conditions of his NDA.

Maybe he won’t agree to mutual consent, I can see Ruud digging his heels in and saying sack me but no NDA or walking of his own volition so he can call the board and club out and out lot will be cacking it as they don’t need/want any more negative publicity.

I think usually they keep getting paid until they find another job, even if that is to the end of the contract.  During that period they wont speak out as it would be a breach of contract.  If he agrees a smaller amount in a lump sum then he will no doubt be bound by the same terms.  There is no keep the money but get to spout your mouth of outcome for Ruud.

No he needs to go there is absolutely every point in sacking him! Man he is our worse manager in our history there is every point!! The bloke is a terrible football manager

So you would prefer the hierarchy that brought us Cooper, then Ruud, be given one more shot, as they are bound to get it right this time - right?

Your point of view is just reactionary, now we need thought and a plan, and we won’t get it inside the current structure. No debate he is piss poor, just little point in changing without better people deciding for who.

A new Sporting director needs appointing, Rudkin moved sideways as Top will never sack his best mate and  the new manager should be appointed as part of their new Directors structure and philosophy. I am sure as part of this RVN will be moved out/ or walk out.

Agreed but how long would it take to identify/ recruit a new sporting director? If they are in a job will we pay compo and the Club release immediately or do you try and get someone out of work? Guaranteed Top won’t have done any investigation of who could replace Rudders.

They’ve already identified a potential DOF

His name is Ron Judkin. One of the best in the business

How can people hide behind the “careful what you wish for” stance when discussing our awfully run club.

We’re breaking all sorts of unwanted records, on course to face some type of PSR penalty once the EFL can touch us, yet we carry on as normal.

Any other business run in such a poor manner, wouldn’t last a financial year.

This is it exactly.  Pointless making a knee jerk reaction now.  There are structural changes that need making at the club before we start looking for a new manager.  If there is a chance of a new DoF, they have to be able to get the manager they want in, otherwise we continue with an offset strategy.  Whether RVN goes now or in 8 weeks time, makes very little difference.

Same could be said about a manager.  If you want a decent, ambitious manager then there are a whole heap of infrastructure problems that need sorting first, or at least be seen to be sorting.  No self respecting, experienced manager would or should touch us with a barge pole.

I may be naive but is this not a pretty standard weekly invite and therefore doesn’t necessarily mean Ruud will still be here, surely if he was to leave say today, it would just mean the caretaker manager would step up and cover this off.

Oh come on mate, you know he’ll be there.

I'm leaning towards it being an accounting period thing now.

But that's a dangerous game, there's potential players will already be back for pre season by July 1st.

Not to mention the fact the transfer window will have been open 3 weeks.

Surely not?

The communications regarding press conference will be pretty routine and invites will be sent out by someone low down in organisation.

Not sure it's time to come to conclusions based on that.

I got banned for shunning this appointment feel I can speak freely now. Expecting a fella with no experience at this level to keep us up was ****ing ludicrous regardless. He’s the worst manager in this clubs history and if there’s even a semblance of a chance this ****ing melt is in charge next season reading the club cause ruck me it’s over

I honestly think if he is still here for Wolves, this is just Top refusing to accept his hand picked selection has failed and he ideally wants him in for next season and is hoping these "easier" fixtures will justify it.

The club are letting ruud see out the season, whilst in the background being proactive and eyeing up their replacement for the summer. Rather than finding someone to do the day to day stuff for now.

Yeah, maybe not.

I would argue it's not knee jerk for Top to make a decision now, with relegation confirmed.  He should have all the evidence needed to decide whether to make changes in leadership before the season closes or as soon as it does.

Until you identify and bring in a new DofF we continue to rely on the failed structure (Rudders / Glover and co) to reshape the squad and possibly identify / bring in a new manager.  With their recent record questionable at best, I wouldn't want them leading the reset.

Personally I would be tempted to ask Nige, health permitting,  to act as Sports Director - even on a temporary basis - to assess what was needed and put the right structures in place to build back.
