Wonder if there is a relegation clause in his contract like the Southampton manager had? If that is the case, it may be why he hasn’t gone yet (and having to wait until we are officially relegated).

Makes no sense though, if he does have a clause with a minimal payout say 6 months maximum , you would just pay him out now as I am sure he wants out, and we can start planning for next season, that would be the logical thing for the club to do, but therein lies the problem.

Problem the club has is who takes it as caretaker? Not fair on kingy and who else is there? The U23 coach?

Brian Barry Murphy and the under 21 manager Leon McSweeney

Very surprised that nothing has happened yet. I was very sure we'd get a 10 am press release.

I'm pretty sure Cooper's departure was announced mid to late afternoon rather than the morning.

Years ago, Ian Holloway very unusually served a defacto notice period

Mamdaric didn't sack him immediately after relegation. Holloway oversaw the closed season fitness programmes,.arranged pre season friendlies and I guess other bits of admin for three or four weeks..

I wonder (hope) that the club are just leaving this awful man in post as, basically,. someone's got to do it..

Yeah it was 4 o’clock on a Sunday afternoon after we played Chelsea as the lunch time kick off the previous day.

I think it will be anytime from 4pm onwards today if it is happening.

Am I the only one who doesn’t think we should put ruud out of his misery?

This season is over I don’t believe he should be getting a pay out.

The notification from LiveScore started, 'RVN Leaves..'

It got me really excited but the full headline was 'RVN Leaves future in doubt'.

Hate it when they do shit like this.

Natural justice says this, but it's unrealistic unless he walks and agrees not to take any money. That would be almost unheard of. The only manager I can think of who did so was Sven at Notts County, and then only because chasing the payout would have ended the club.

He'll want the remaining 2.5 years in pay and the hierarchy will want to fvck him off with six months before they meet somewhere in the middle .Such negotiations obviously take time, which is why expecting to wake up to news that he'd left this morning was unrealistic.

It'll be the payment terms, maybe offset so it doesn't completely ruin PSR.

Curious if people know if the payout is larger the less he’s been in the job or it’s as simple as his wages need to be covered in any scenario.

A relegation clause to lower that amount might be in place or at the least his wages drop when we are in the lower league, thus the comp drops significantly

like if he’s on 3m a year and we sack him… he gets 6m

but in the summer, his wage drops to 1.5 so he’d only get 3m. (Made up numbers btw)

I think that's likely. It may even be that he leaves with a similar deal to Potter when he left Chelsea, meaning the payment is effectively spread over a 2.5 year term rather than one lump sum in a year where we've paid off Cooper.

This could be especially so if we're looking at a replacement who currently has a job and whose club will want a compensation payout.

It's difficult to say. All speculation on our part.

However, a relegation clause does seem likely given that most of the players will be on one as well.

So if we assume that his wage halves upon relegation, and he's due 2.5 years of that wage, that would mean he would be entitled to a £3.75m payoff.

If we structured the payouts similarly to the way that Chelsea apparently did with Potter, that would give us an extra £2.25m headroom for PSR next year. That alone could easily be the new manager's wages.

Of course, he might argue that he should get more than that. If we were to get promoted under him at the first attempt, he would be entitled to £3m again in Year Two and a further £1.5m in Year Two Point Five. This would complicate matters as he would now be entitled to a Year One Payment of £1.5m, plus a promotion bonus, and then a payrise for the subsequent years, bringing the total to over £5m either as a lump sum or over the remainder of what would have been his contract.

The latter would definitely be harder to argue as immediate promotion would be based on pure speculation, but you can imagine him arguing it if it's in his contract.

So nothing has happened, nothing will happen, and this goofball will field the same starting eleven to get pumped silly by Brighton?

Cool.

FFS they were clapping the fact that he didn’t celebrate not that he scored!

Still a bit weird though, clap the guy before and after the game, not just after he's scored and because he didn't celebrate. "Yes, jolly good show Harvey!"

These are the same fans that continuously gave a better reception to James Maddison in a Spurs shirt than they did any of our own players.

I know certain people are into BDSM but I've never seen a team be so submissive.

Top must love getting pegged by his new wife, And wants the club to do the same

Great. Now I've got the Van Gaal "sex masochism" quote in my head.

Seems to be standard practice. Usually reserved for players who were popular or local. Not really weird. There’s very little sportsmanship shown by fans these days so it makes a change . We’re pretty good with most former players as are fans of other clubs.
