Muzzy_no7 Posted 14 December 2024 Posted 14 December 2024 Send Odsonne Akinbiyi back to Palace and get Lindelof on loan
dmayne7 Posted 14 December 2024 Posted 14 December 2024 Would like some younger targets but given he's out of contract at the end of the season and only 30, picking him up for a few million would be great business. I know they're not the same Man United but they've still been mostly a CL club for the time he's been there, playing 250+ times for Man United shows that he's more than good enough for us. It's just his overall physicality that holds him back a bit. 1
JimJams Posted 14 December 2024 Posted 14 December 2024 If we sold Faes and brought him in for a substantially lower amount I wouldn't vomit. Still, would always prefer players on their way up than those on their way down. 1
Silebyfox_89 Posted 14 December 2024 Posted 14 December 2024 No thanks. His wages would be obscene for a start and not worth investing in at 30 years old. We need to bring the overall wage bill down and could get 2/3 players in for what's he's on. 1
JimJams Posted 14 December 2024 Posted 14 December 2024 But he won't be "on" anything. He'll be a free agent in the summer, his current 170k a week is irrelevant, he can only get what other clubs want to pay. If nobody offers him more than 50p a week then that's all he can get.
jonny_wright Posted 14 December 2024 Posted 14 December 2024 Would be comfortably our best defender; a champions league level player… Sweden’s captain 4
Gazza M Posted 15 December 2024 Posted 15 December 2024 30 years old perfect age experience wise. Still got 3 or 4 years in the legs. Partner with a young lad like Okoli and Nelson.

Lindelof has 4 years on Faes and is the wrong side of 30. The Swede hasn't played for any sustained period of time in the last year and spent half of last season injured. Therefore he's a risk. For some, one worth taking. For others, maybe not.

The same type of risk Huth and Evans was. Or Bertrand..

Faes is still only 26 and a Belgian international. Barcelona were allegedly previously sniffing around him. Last year he had a pretty good season in a dominant, front-foot team. There's different needs for skillsets in CBs depending on what a team requires, right? Have used Manuel Akanji as an example of this before. He was often a train wreck at Dortmund, to say he has a mistake in him is an under statement. At Man City it's not overly important, he's regarded for his mobility and his talent on the ball and most of the mistakes he makes can be covered by the team or compensated for by what he gives in posession to a team that's going to see a lot of it. Wout probably has more value to a "big" club, a dominant club, who will value his ability on the ball more than his actual defending. It wouldn't totally shock me to see him still move upwards when he leaves Leicester, although I do think his reputation will have been hit in the last month or two. indierich06 Posted 17 December 2024 Posted 17 December 2024 I dunno, the last washed up former United CB we got turned out alright
Buzzell Posted 17 December 2024 Posted 17 December 2024 Better than Okoli, better than Faes, better than Vesty, better than Coady. I’d have him here. 2
Pliskin Posted 17 December 2024 Posted 17 December 2024 He’s definitely better than all of our defenders. If we can get him on loan, it’s a no brainer.

-sodapop Posted 18 December 2024 Posted 18 December 2024 He'd start for us for sure. He also played as a right back at Benfica if I remember correctly. Age doesn't concern me as I feel early 30s is often peak age for a defender. I'm more concerned that he'd probably sooner go to a upper-mid table Italian or German side than scrap it out with us. Maybe they can't afford his wages? Which then makes me wonder if that's the best use of our money. Tough one. Won't complain if it happens as he'll improve our starting XI which is what we need, but without knowing all the numbers, hard to say if it's great business. 2
jamfox Posted 18 December 2024 Posted 18 December 2024 Lindelöf is classy , has the vesty ability to pick out a pass but is a better all round defender @ 30 yes for me but not on silly money 1
