Yeh KP would likely have to sell our fixed assets to a finance house and lease back if the Vampires called in the debt, that pretty much sees us where Cov were 15 years ago. There’s no way this ends well for the club, absolutely no way. Ric’s view we will be insolvent in 18 months is absolutely plausible from here on in

It is an absolute knock out punch for the decision making morons involved in scouting to negotiating. A CFO with half a brain could’ve seen this coming two summers ago, while we were spending around £35m on Okoli and Skipp, two players who we don’t trust in league one, and giving Vestergaard another 3 year contract. If we’d have gone up to the prem and spent absolutely nothing at all we’d have been in a hugely better position now. It’s crazy when you think about some of the bad financial and PR mistakes we have made. 
 

Letting key squad players run down contracts and not selling them on.

 

Dishing out massive wages, rather than selling players on. This got worse after the FA Cup.

 

Terrible player recruitment between 21 - 26 I think it’s fair to say.  

Extending Rodgers contract was a massive mistake in hindsight.

 

No squad refresh when required.

 

Pushing Schmeichel out the door and persisting with Ward.

 

Paying any form of money for Fanny Ward, when you consider it was £12m it blows your mind.

 

Seagrave is a great facility, we’ve not got the worlds best coaches and it has cost us a small fortune.

 

No stadium expansions. We’ve now acted too slowly so to a degree, I’d debate if it is worth it if we continue to decline.

 

Reliance on Vampire financing when we are meant to be owned by “Billionaires”.

 

The state of our sponsorship and dodgy betting companies. They are just tone deaf to the fan base. They perceive us all as customers if we are honest. 

Lack of communication and the entire “we promote next season” video.

 

The entire state of our PSR saga.

 

Ticket pricing and total disdain toward fan engagement and the interaction with the Foxestrust survey.

 

Transfer promises to various managers that just haven’t materialised, despite every man and their dog, including those who know nothing about football clearly seeing it is required.

 

Celebrating going back to the Premier League like it was a great achievement, it was an embarrassment from where we were.

 

The Cambodia incidents and parading the Thailand propaganda around the pitch.

NO CLUB HAS A RIGHT TO BE IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE. 

 

However, you can certainly do a lot to ensure you are heading in the right direction and some of the stuff I’ve listed is bonkers bad. They’ve just got no fan engagement perception, other than offering a free stale donut and warm beer and people lap it up like we are the best run club in the country.

It’s ironic really, after the past four years of squad bloated with players that were a bunch of detestable leaches, we now have a really promising set of younger players coming through who have benefited from Seagrave, but it’s likely too little too late to save the club from insolvency in the end.

All this finance stuff in football is just beyond me, I know others have a better handle on it.

 

In terms of new ownership, we might well be beyond saving anyway, and new ownership might have to come with administration and rebuilding.

 

But as a general point about new ownership,  I wouldn’t say being excessively rich (in football terms) is the exciting bit. The reason for feeling positive and excited will hopefully be getting someone who has a clue how to run the club sensible and sustainably. 
 

I see it as, the better you can run the club in the first place, the less money it costs.

 

Whether this is right I don’t know, but I looked up the relative wealth of the following;

 

KP - £2.7-£3 billion

Tony Bloom - £1-£1.3 billion

Matthew Benham - £200-£250 million

 

As I say, how correct these are I don’t know but I’d say if likely is quite accurate in terms of KP being worth the most and by some way. And the fact Benham is sustaining a PL club is amazing really. 
 

So year, regardless of wealth, you need a smart owner. And we have the thickest and most clueless owner in the entire English league system!

One thing to note is that those figures are from 24/25, so not recent. It might be that we've paid some off and reduced that amount. This transfer window alone, we've reduced the wage bill by a reported £24m+ which is ridiculous. 

 

However, it would still be there as some sort of eye watering amount, I would guess. But I'm not a financial expert so could be wrong

I sm sure I read last year that we had been borrowing money in anticipation that long term premier league football was inevitable and the 2nd relegation was just an unfortunate blip.

Wages are a weekly cost so I’m not sure how they would come into that. We have raised decent transfer fees but then when you read his previous tweets about how much we owe other clubs in transfers, you realise that we probably need that money for that.

We've probably taken close to 80% of the bill out in the last two years, when you include players that have left and the two lots of relegation clauses.

Yeah to be honest, as right as everyone is in here about how disgraceful King Power are as owners, Kieran Maguire is scaremongering again in my opinion. Or at least angling things all towards one narrative to get attention. A bit like how tabloids do their stories. 

 

Sales this season have gone a long way to clearing a lot of that. I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that anything left over would be wiped by Top to allow a sale. Least we will get to see how much he genuinely cares. Facebook will probably tell us it's because he's had enough of toxic fans.
