Great signing. I honestly think rudkin and our recruitment team would have no idea who he even is.

This should absolutely put paid to the argument that it is impossible to sign players that improve what we have due to our league position. The lack of forward planning and future proofing is quite honestly astounding. 
 

This season, in a window and a half we have managed to quash the PSR and possible points deduction argument/excuses for signing dross/being inactive in the market when they both didn’t happen. 
 

At what point do we realise that the people in charge of recruitment at this football club are absolutely incompetent and negligent. Put the blame where it lies. Rudkin, Glover and at the very end of the day, Top. 
 

Their decisions and stewardship has seen us lumbered with Vestegaard, Coady, Ward et al on stupid money, with no sign of changing course. We head into next season (likely in the championship) with Jordan Ayew and Bobby Reid while Southampton forward think with the likes of Gronbaek. They’ll recoup big money for Dibling and likely spend again, too. 
 

We are an utter laughing stock, they’re asleep at the wheel and have been for some time. I want serious people in positions of power at this football club not the charlatans we currently endure.

What is impossible is to sign players that improve us that are already proven... the problem we have had for just about the last 6 years is that we moved into an arrogant big club mindset and only target established players. Most of the more unknown players weve gone for, are only unknown to general fans really, they are still very common knowledge in the football world. 

 

We wouldnt have taken a punt on Fofana if he hadnt had a blinder against PSG. We wouldnt have gone for faes if he wasnt a belgium international. We are transparent and are scared to actually take a gamble on a player.  We go for someone like Soule when in reality we should have been going for someone like Phillogene. but our club ego is just too much.  

 

We are so transparent. The problem with us, we have to let someone like Atalanta sign a player like Gronbaek first, before we will decide hes now worthy of joining us. We are in the wrong part of the food chain and the club dont seem to have adapted to the fact that in our situation you need to make some educated gambles.  I'll admit that im pleasantly surprised by Woyo as this is more the type of deal we need to be looking at, but our summer was tarnished by this arrogance imo. So much wasted time chasing unrealistic options.

Well, he’s failed at a club just above the relegation zone in France, so not sure he would be the answer to all our problems.

A quick look at their forum suggests they aren't that bothered to see him leave. I'd question his attitude too for wanting out so soon when the going gets tough.

They've just sold Philogene for nearly £25m, and that's a nice profit for them for him playing a handful of games too. I think Villa know what they're doing now.
