Fair play to Ipswich, streets ahead of us in how they are going about their business. If they don’t quite stay up they’ll sell Delap and be absolutely rampant in the championship next season. Whereas we are going to be an absolute cluster****.

Weve seen transfer windows like this, I would prepare for the worst.

 

The complete lack of links, Tanner suggesting we aren't close to anyone, PSR rumours left and right.

 

We might get a defender in on loan at most, but I think we've blown our load in the summer and there's not a great deal left to spend without moving players on which we are notoriously awful at.

Called for us to be all over Philogene a week ago as he was getting no gametime at Villa...however we were never throwing £21m on him so don't think we had much of a chance.

 

One things for sure though...if Ipswich go down with us, we aint getting near them next season. A championship superteam!

Wonder if we'd sign a player for £14m, them have a crap half a season with no goals or assists and make a £7m profit on them?

Never worth that in a million years. Very patchy in the Championship, seems far too high a fee

Both would improve us.

 

What is cant work out is we've ploughed millions into the training ground, every new managers turned up talking about young players and yet we've wasted millions on Ayew, Reid, Vestergaard, Skipp and Coady. Baffling.

Perhaps we need to create some kind of role at the club where someone oversees some kind of football direction, playing style, transfer philosophy etc. 😅

With the state of our defence, if Godfrey was the cb signing, we’d all be a little nervous. Let’s be honest.

How many wide players and forwards does McKenna sign? Seem to sign 3 every window.

They are going to have some side in the Championship next season. What on earth has Philogene done to be worth £20m? Football is mad.

Philogene for £21mil isnt a good signing. He hasnt looked ready for Premier league football this season and in my opinion was not as good as everyone said in the championship. He has talent though so may come good.

And young players don’t usually come with a big wage packet either.  Ipswich will have a much lower wage structure than us anyway. The players go there and will take a 30/40k max  salary because they are in the PL shop window.  They may well have release clauses which helps.

We've got to rip it up and start again. I'm aware it's not just as simple as pay new players much much less than we've paid others because whilst a chunk of those players still belong to us, the agents and players are going to demand similar and play the game. We fall for it and rinse and repeat.

 

I just want a complete purge from top to bottom.
