Depending on how bad the financial situation is and if Fatawu leaves, I wouldn't mind Vaclav Cerny.

He's 27 and only really had one notable season in the SPFL but he's been very good almost everytime I've saw him play and would be relatively cheap.

It could very well be a case of a decent player that we don't need/not quite what we are looking for but like I say, if Fatawu goes and money is tight, he could be a good option to split playing time with Monga. He wouldn't halt his progression but would take the pressure off of playing and performing every week.

My list for what its worth of potentially realistic and attainable players to supplement the talent in our academy and to move forward with players who will be signings that won’t bust the bank but also offer potential sell on opportunity.

GK - Freddie Woodman (PNE), Sam Tickle (Wigan), Harry Tyrer (Blackpool), Sanne Lammens (Antwerp)

Full Back -  Kaine Kesler Hayden (PNE - Villa loan), Caleb Wiley (Watford loan), Flavio Nazinho (Cercle), Ethan Galbraith (Leyton Orient)

CB - Maksym (Plymouth), Callum Doyle (Man City), Tyler Bindon (Reading) Nathan Ngoy (Standard Liege)

CM - Ben Sheaf (Cov),  Yacine Titraouri (Charleroi), Noah Nartey (Brondby) Victor Froholdt (Copenhagen)

AM - Kwame Poku (Peterborough), Niko Jankovic (Reijka),

Striker - Adam Buksa (Midtjylland),  Hamza Igamane (Rangers), Adriano Bertaccini (St Truiden)

That Titraoui in particular looks outrageously good. Great find.

Realistically I think we are going to need a minimum of:

1x Goalkeeper

2x Centre/defensive midfielders

1/2x Attacking central midfielder

1x Striker

Let’s say £30m budget, who we getting?

GK - Freddie Woodman ( out of contract )

CDM - Hayden Hackney

ACM - Yuito Suzuki

ST - Mihailo Ivanović / Kyōgo Furuhashi

Free Transfers -

Kuame Poku

Ilias Chair

The more I look at Adriano Bertaccini at St Truiden in Belgium, the more I like. Got abit of menace about him as well as 20 goals this season.

Also a big fan of right back Louis Patris on loan there from Anderlecht.

I can’t see Hackney being realistic. 2 years left on his contract, will cost a bit as such and given Middlesbrough are his boyhood club, you’d think when he moves it will be for a step up whereas we will be a sideways step.

If he doesn’t extend with Burnley, I’d have Brownhill on the free transfers list. Best part of 20 goals from centre midfield, would replace KDH’s contribution in that sense and is a captain and leader. Generally I want us to go younger with resale value but he would be an exception given we have a few youngsters coming through in centre midfield anyway.

Also Harry Darling at centre back but it would depend if (and how quickly if so), we could move on the likes of Vestergaard, Faes and even Coady. I could see us missing out on free transfers due to the need to move some out.

Same with Poku. We have Fatawu and Mavididi as first choice. We want to see Evans and Monga (if he stays) get plenty of game time. Then Alves as well and McAteer. That’s 6 already. I can’t see wingers being an area we need to bring anyone is unless we can get rid of Ayew and Reid. Possibly McAteer too.

I'd happily take Jamie Donley from Spurs on loan for a season - seeing what a good job we did bringing Harry Kane through for them... 😉

I think we could buy him for £6-7m

Goncalo Franco - Swansea City

His defensive stats caught my attention last season when he was playing in Portugal, he ended up at Swansea which has proven to be a coup for their scouting team.

He has just won their Player of the Season award, while in terms of defensive statistics, this is how he compares to other Championship midfielders.

Tackles per90 - 4th

Defensive Duels per90 - 2nd

Defensive Duels Won per90 - 2nd

Possessions Won per90 - 4th

Would make for a great option if Ndidi leaves.

I am sceptical of the likelihood of signings with a number of years left on their contract (Franco has 3 years left until 2028). I imagine it would take quite a bit to tempt Swansea, especially to a divisional rival and possible similar aims next season. I suppose it depends how many pennies we have to run together this summer!

Swansea picking up Inoussa as well, obviously got some decent staff in recruitment

Few gems knocking around in mid-table/lower half of the Championship. Swansea supposedly paid between £2-3 million for him, I reckon they could be tempted around £10 million, similar to what we paid for Winks. In terms of fees, defensive midfield and striker probably needs the most investment this summer.

Their recruitment has actually been criticised tbh 😬

Franco has been a rare gem, wouldn’t be surprised if Inoussa follows suit, he’s been one of the best wing talents in Sweden.

We'd end up offering £67 million. It certainly explains the £2-5 million we should have paid for Skipp. Maybe the fax was blurry...? 🤑

Claudio Gomes, 24 years of age from Italian Serie B side Palermo. A very good Ndidi replacement to look at. Came through Man City's youth academy.
We could use Gomes as a Ndidi/Soumaré replacement in the 6 role, he’s tenacious, press-resistant, and tactically disciplined.

Excellent in transitions and ball recovery which is perfect for a manager/head coach that uses a structured press or compact block.

At 24, he’s entering his prime and still has sell-on value if developed further which is a huge key factor for Championship clubs with promotion ambitions.
He'll be a cost-effective signing who can offer tactical flexibility, Championship experience, and defensive stability.
He may not be vocal motivator or emotional leader but Gomes offers leadership through professionalism, consistency, and tactical maturity.
I'd say £4m-£6.5m including add-ons (performance-based bonuses) and sell-on clause of 15%-20%.

I must say, the bits I've seen of Charlie Savage i think he's capable of making it to the highest level. Reminds me of Braybrooke but with more aggression and evidently taller.

He'd certainly be an option I'd look in to. Got a decent engine on him too which is something we're massively missing in midfield

Didn’t know where else to put this as didn’t think it was worth a new thread. I’ve been looking this morning at potential finances available this summer, it’s fair to say the club only really has 4 sellable assets at the club.

1) Mads Hermansen - He has £3.9m left on the books, you sell him for £25m you have £21.1m profit.

2) Bilal El Khannous - He has £15.75m left on the books, you sell him for £25m you have £9.25m in profit.

3) Wilfred Ndidi - Pure profit, can see someone buying out his release clause of £9m

4) Kasey McAteer - Might be a surprising one but if you can get £7-£8m for Kasey the club might need to sell him to focus on targets.

The four of them would raise around £46.5m once balancing the books for context we raised £47.5m during the 23/24 season from the sales of Barnes £39m profit, Castagne £7m profit & Hurst £1.5m.

During the 23/24 season we spent around £38m but recorded a £19m loss, £6m over the allowed PSR. Losing Vardy will balance the books a huge amount, therefore I can see us having a budget of around £30m if the above four are moved on.

I will make a separate post below this with all the players that have fees left on the books.

I came on here to suggest this.

22, good stats.  Connection through his dad.

I’d be more than happy for us to clear out every cm we have and sign players like this.

Mentioned him a couple of weeks ago, watched them play Bristol Rovers and the pass for his assist was aa lovely touch.
