The only way to save the Ocean is to ban fishing and stop eating fish. If we thought the issues on land were bad, the sea is in a far, far, far worse state. The number of deadzones is growing rapidly - in real terms the sea's are already empty.

At least on an industrial scale.

It's also down to, especially in the UK, people being very narrow with their fish eating. Cod or haddock (and usually cod) with no idea of anything else.

Personally find cod rather bland.

I guess tradition in the UK have cod and haddock at the heart of every chip shop and restaurant - it's hard to go into the chip shop and ask for battered red snapper and chips please.

Good news for travellers that we can use the EU e-passport gates again.

We can use e-gates anyway (I did on my trip to Milan last week) and on the return to EMA. The queues for the non-EU passport control are always lower than the EU line I find also.

Not really talking about indigenous peoples who lives wholly depend on fishing - they aren't the biggest consumers in the overfished areas - that's greedy westerners. Sustainability in fishing is an absolute myth, as proven by SeaSpiracy - how John West survived that documentary I'll never know, but putting words like 'sustainably sourced' or 'responsibly sourced' on tins of tuna should be illegal, because not a single gram of tuna is sustainably or responsibly sourced. Same with 'Dolphin Friendly'.

Fish farming - take a look at Scottish Salmon - absolutely horrendous and I wouldn't each that stuff if it was the last thing on earth. The actual fish is grim thanks to disease and lice and the environmental impacts are pretty disastrous too, and that's before we get onto the culling of seals etc to protecting farmed stock - a common concept on land now seemingly taking steps in the sea too - KILL EVERYTHING WHICH POTENTIALLY THREATENS OUR FOOD.

These are all excellent points, but tbh I'm still looking for an answer to the question I asked because I honestly don't know myself - what way is there to balance the food based needs of people while maintaining necessary biodiversity for the future? A crash in populations either way is really unacceptable.

Have UK gate queues ever been a problem? Ive been abroad a fair few times since Brexit and havent had to queue for long once? If anything it was faster then the EU queue when i went Germany, Spain and Switzerland. 😂 Sounds like a pointless negotiation point for something that wasnt an issue tbh

I'm not sure Reform will agree with letting gypsies in.

The amount of people that have the nerve to go on about how Biden shouldn’t have been in office because of his mental state and then applaud every thing that orange moron says is ridiculous . If any other person said anything like the crap he comes out with against him they would be crying about it and try to arrest them for being mean

Very English that we give up our freedom of movement and billions worth of trade and people are discussing queues.

Oh well that's ok, because the magic beans turned into a beanstalk which allowed jack climb it and access untold riches.  Perfect.

What with Pearson and the boys being at the game yesterday and now Badenoch warning about Bulgarians and Romanians again, I'm getting all nostalgic for the mid 2010s. Those salad days!

No one talking about the biggest news of the day - Gary's been evicted from the Beeb. How will he earn his crust now?  I'd like him to have a Amazon or netflix series, perhaps on running a pub or restaurant. Or even a hotel.

Says he's quite happy running his podcast/media business.

I sense he quite likes the fame and limelight though so we may see and hear more from him now the shackles are off.

He’ll be way more vocal on SM next week

also, would not be a surprise to see him presenting Al Jazeera World Cup coverage next year - he worked for them a dozen years or so ago.

Would like to think ITV will take him on and replace their horrific football coverage team

It's ITV. Even their news coverage is like a TV version of The Sun or Daily Mirror.

Good to see the usual print media suspects being entirely rational regarding the agreement reached between the EU and UK yesterday.

It's interesting that they didn't make such noise about sovereignty etc when they were practically begging the UK to hop into bed with people of upstanding moral character such as Felon#47 from across the pond. I wonder why that is?

The half witted regurgitation from the bedsit dwelling,  unemployed, communist, foreign policy experts in the dark depths of a chat forum for a regional sports club does wonders for comedic passing of the time whilst I lay a cable in the morning, so thanks.
