I think they’ll underwhelm this season.

They haven’t started well and they’ve gone a bit like we did when we had Sven in charge.

I can see them Pushing playoffs but they won’t win it.

Is that accurate?

It can't be good, that much turnover will be so disruptive.

Such a weird top-heavy squad, they've got the players to score for fun in this division but they have a defence like a sieve.

Can't be dull being a sheep-botherer this season, but they're going to have to keep bagging 2-3 a game to be getting points on the board.

The 12mill signing of McAteer tells me everything i need to know about Mckenna, i rated him before then, i dont even think theyll make playoffs

I think they will be dangerous if they pick up a few wins and get on a good run.

But it's interesting. When you're promoted you're on a high, momentum, get promoted again. Now he's suffered a relegation it'll be interesting to see if he can turn them around and pick up momentum again.

I was very sceptical of Ipswich's favourites tag, but to be fair they've played Birmingham and  Southampton as two of their fixtures so far - two teams fancied to be in the promotion race. Wouldn't completely write them off yet by any stretch.

First season in a while that Ipswich aren’t running off some degree of momentum, will be a further test of McKenna this season you would think.

Gets them up or close, he will no doubt be hot property again.

Southampton have started as slowly as they have, in fairness. Birmingham are over hyped to hell as we showed, yet they only just scraped a point against them.

Ipswich need to buck their ideas up or this could be a very costly season for them. They've spent silly money for the level.

Ipswich are an interesting one. I tipped them for the title at the start of the season and I'm still sticking by it. Szmodics, Jack Clark, Philogene, Hirst, Greaves, Akpom, Davies and Furlong are all very good players at this level. However, it's a very high squad turnover and they've taken a big risk letting big players of their previous promotion campaigns (Broadhead, Chaplin, Woolfenden, Morsy, Hutchinson etc.) leave. If Ipswich click, then they'll be very hard to stop.

They have looked poor. I think some of the odds forget that last time around Ipswich were maybe a little fortunate to get second (based on xG, late goals, etc), no longer have a wave of positive momentum, and have lost their best players. The odds probably are a backing of the manager more than anything else at this point.

Still got 42 games to go though and I think the only conclusion to draw on the league at this point is that it's wide open.

Surely nobody is writing Ipswich and Sheff U off at this point? It’s so early in the season and one thing I’d say about the championship is, once a team starts finding a head of steam either side of Christmas, you can race up the league quite quickly.

Ipswich supporter here. Last Saturday we looked like a good set of individuals but, understandably not a team.  Derby came for a point and spent a great deal of time rolling around is supposed agony to waste time. The goal coming after 105 minutes came as no suprise to anybody.

This will be the test for McKenna. He has to show that what happened in previous seasons was not a one off. We have far to many players who dont evern know their team mates names.

While we have certainly spent,  we have also raised £75m ish from Delap, Hutchinson and Broaders.

But as has been said on here it's early days yet.

McKenna is another one whose stock is probably high enough to get a job at a struggling Premier League club. I could see him somewhere like Wolves, Brentford or even West Ham if they sack their manager.

Let’s be completely honest here ,  no team have looked good in the first 4 games of the season, I’m inclined to think it’s the standards of league 1,  it’s quite scary how massive the gap is from the premier league

I saw this and immediately imagined a meme version of the opposite for Leicester where we were reacting in horror to all the ones that were still here.

All that lot gone in just 16 months.. They brought one one bloke onto the pitch on Saturday and nobody could say who he was. Thass a rum do.

Eustace is a decent manager when it comes to defence though, although very often when you shore up a defence, it’s at the cost of attack.

For some reason tho, unlike Cov or Forest, I don’t really wish any harm of Derby, they went through a lot and their fans seem a lot more grounded than the others.

Very strange that significant turn over. Like ripped out the leadership figures such as Sam Morsy and Conor Chaplin.

They obviously thought that few of those players would hold their own in the prem. So they spent loads of money, and now they’ve ended up with the worst of both worlds. It’s a proper rebuild job for them as they’re not established, the infrastructure was that of a league one club just over two years ago.

Well is mckenna responsible for transfers?  Because he might not have much of a say in the individuals targeted

I think they have learnt from last year that in order to stay in the EPL from here you have to go up with  a base of EPL players in the Champs. But such complete changes are very disruptive to team work and coheasion on the pitch. Time will be of the essence. Already lagging behind.

McKenna will have set out what he wants and who he wants. Mark Ashton will then have tried his best to get the players at the top of the list. But as we know not everything always goes to plan.

Losing Morsy, Chappers and Woolfy etc has ripped the heart out of the team.  But looking on the Wrexham forum they think it is quite normal to change all your players every season. They have bought 11 this time.

Disagree, Ipswich have championship to prem infrastructure and once the team settles they’ll have a good season. Although I don’t expect them to win the league like many were tipping!

This.  Said it from day one the gulf is huge and getting bigger.
