You win nothing with kids unless you're Man U plus refs.

Can’t believe how easily people are giving up on us. Yes  we’re absolute pants and likely to go down,  but to throw kids in is just accepting that. I’d be gutted if we went that route. When it’s mathematically certain we’re down, then build for next year. For now, every effort to get the strongest and best equipped team on the pitch.

The position we are in we can't afford to give young players game time. They would need time to bed in and ultimately would make mistakes which would cost us results and then fans would be on their and the managers backs about why the are in the team. In an ideal world the manager and the club would love to give all the young players playing time and the opportunity to show their worth but when it's backs to the wall playing for Premier League survival it's simply not going to happen.

I do not think anyone is suggesting a team full of young professionals but testing some given the complete ineptitude of some of our seniors. I said close season that Ben Nelson was ready based on what we saw last season but no a loan Alves is another that is being left too long to see if he really has what it takes. Monga is possibly too young but who knows. If they are not blooded by 19-20 it’s probably too late. Golding is another who since we spent money should be pushed harder. Experience has failed clearly we cannot do worse and just maybe we find a diamond.

I agree with you we but hasn't the last transfer window shown us that the club has given up?

Which is exactly what the players are currently doing. Bring some young guys into the mix and you could completely change the energy of the team, and even get lucky with 1 or 2 who actually help us win matches.

Not saying we should play loads and make them first team regulars but we are absolutely awful at giving young players a chance. People will point to some of the lads that have come through in the past 10 years but I'm talking about the number of players that are given 5-10 cameo appearances before we make a decision. Instead they just rot at reserve team level, never getting that chance or even being sent out on loan.

Where the meme?

Trey Nyoni or other youth prospect - Not good enough for Leicester. :nono:

Trey Nyoni - Plays and starts for Liverpool. :yesyes:

There’s been opportunities to play the kids this year in the cups but both managers we’ve had appear to prefer experience even if that experience comes in a body not able to play with the pace and creativity that some of our youngsters have got.

Also at that age some are "fearless" of course and so are less likely to make elementary mistakes because of it! Players like Rooney and Norman Whiteside of old were only 16 and 17 when they made their senior debuts and they pretty much hit the ground running at that age! Whiteside even played for Northern Ireland in the 1982 World Cup at 17 of course!!

We’re still not down. Whether the club back him is beyond his control. He just has to keep doing all he can to garner points. 🤷

People may think this is me being sarcastic but genuinely does it perhaps not say more about the pace of the game that the modern game and manager wants? So much emphasis being put on control (Even though we're anything but in control, never have, never will) and slowing the game down, e.t.c, literally the only logic and reasoning I can come up with.

Cooper actually gave 20 mins+ to Popov and Alves in the first cup game against Tranmere once we were 3-0 up

Golding and Alves were also on the bench against Walsall but didn't get a go because it went all the way to penalties

Alves also got 20 mins+ against Man Utd when it was clear the game was gone from us

At least Cooper was including them in the match squad and seemingly willing to bring them on if the situation was good for it

Ruud completely ignored youth against QPR so when we were cruising there wasn't one to sub on and lets be honest even though he was on the bench there was no chance Monga was getting on the pitch against Man Utd no matter what the score
