It's a problem, we all know it's swamped the game.

Is it worth this? Is it going to solve anything? Nah.

Surely we have to start looking at the UK's approach to drugs rather than this wasteful 'war against' kinda actions? Have we not learned that clampdowns and prohibitions don't work yet?

I'd bet a penny to a pound that alcohol is the much bigger cause of people running onto the pitch than cocaine ever will be.

Or would I bet a pound to a penny? Whichever one is correct lol

I'm assuming the thinking is pitch invaders in the sense of people coming on the pitch to physically attack players more than just to run across the pitch waving their arms being silly in various states of undress?

It's hardly an issue though is it?  The amount of time and resources spent on nonsense like this is bizarre.

I wonder if thousands invade the pitch they'll arrest and drug test them all.

It's about time.

I've long suspected some pitch invaders have taken performance enhancing drugs to gain an added yards on thy hallowed steward.

How does testing idiots who run on the pitch help with preventing idiots in the stand engage in anti-social behaviour and doing lines?

Everyone knows once you're on the pitch you're getting a ban anyway.

How long do you get banned for when you run on the sacred turf.

Asking for a friend

The one who done it at the King Power a few weeks back got banned for 3 years

Cocaine use at football is a massive problem that causes people to act like complete bellends. Any measures taken to reduce that are all good by me.

How does this reduce people taking drugs?

There’s a general push to ban those who commit offences at/around football who are using drugs. If drug takers who can’t behave are banned, they naturally won’t be at the game.

Drop in the ocean though if it only removes one or two per season.

But this is targeting drug taking pitch invaders (****ing ridiculous focus) who would get an instant ban for entering the field of play anyway.

Do you think this stops people from taking drugs? How many coked up morons invade the pitch each game?

It’s not just pitch invaders, it’s any offences committed at football if you read past the headline.

it’s also part of a wider push in law enforcement to test for Class A after arrest to try to address the role of drug use in spontaneous crime

Will fail because all prohibition fails. The only solution is to decriminalise and bring sales into locations where counselling and support is promoted. Anything else is paying lip service to action.

I do always find it funny that people attribute being a nobhead at football to cocaine.

I know quite a few people that do/did cocaine regularly and it just made them more chatty. I've seen the same people get into arguments/confrontations when they've only been drinking.

If you're a nob then you're a nob, alcohol in my experience will amplify your nobheadedness more than cocaine will.

I'd challenge anyone to do a lovely bump and see if they suddenly want to start battering people and committing crimes.

Sincerely,

P. Escobar
