France has an area the size of Paris called Zone Rouge, that is essentially a no-man's-land due to the remaining unexploded bombs and mines there from WW1 :(

The devastation from WW1 on the physical and human geography of Europe is probably not as known in Britain as it should be.

Even our own populace. WWII naturally occupies more headspace but most people wouldn’t know ~twice the amount of British troops died in the Great War.

I've always been fascinated by WW1.  When I was about 8 I remember watching the BBC landmark documentary series The Great War. The theme music would send chills up my spine.  The more recent They Shall Not Grow Old is brilliant

The sheer concentration of heavy, medium and light artillery was mind boggling.

WW! always makes me angry as it was mostly just a massive royal family feud.

All done via the media these days less fatalities and virtually free as the rags and tv sycophants fall over themselves to be first in the queue for any juicy retorts, snipes, back-stabbings etc

Despite being a big Chemical Brothers and New Order fan it only just dawned on me today that Bernard Summer does the vocals on Out of Control

Not today but last week I found out that elephants are really good swimmers. And they like to swim just under the water and use their trunk as a snorkel.

One anti war song that, perhaps, slips under the radar is Zor and Zam by the Monkees, which touches on this very point

Some of it's apparently in our balls, so I guess it depends on whether you consider that on the earth or not

Begs the question - why aren’t we stopping production of plastics (looking at you, fossil fuel industry 👀)

Money. The answer is always money.

Which is ironic now that most notes are made of plastic themselves.
