lol except for his track record

His recent track record is not good. Everton were abysmal under him earlier this season but improved significantly the moment he left. That should tell us something.

Besides, if we are aiming to return to the model of bringing through talented youngsters and selling one of them every summer to keep us ticking over financially, we need a manager who is willing to take a chance on young players. Dyche has always favoured experience over youth and has never really trusted flair players. He is not the man to help us return to a model that makes full use of our academy.

He went in and saved them from relegation, granted it got stale towards the end but his hands were tied and did well under difficult circumstances

again that’s kind of bollocks, he brought McNeil, Ings through, Keane to a degree, tarkowski all when they were young, Burnley operated that model for a long time, they made a lot of money under Dyche due to the players he’d developed . In terms of fair players, he had cornet playing at a very good level and he ended up flopping at West Ham. Seems like you’ve got a pre conceived perception of Dyche rather than looking at the actual facts and the body of his work

Nah he wouldn’t come Sassoulo pay well and I know where I’d rather work.

Pity because I would love to see him run off celebrating like 2006 after a last minute equaliser against Oxford to keep us in with a mathematic chance of avoiding relegation to division 3

I haven’t read through this thread too much recently but I know we’ve been linked with Russell Martin today/yesterday. I was firmly in the boat that he’d be a disappointing appointment but having listened to his interview with Lineker a few weeks back I actually don’t mind this at all. He had some really good stats, felt like his saints team were on the up and was fully aware that it was more of a project than an immediate success. Having listened to that I really do think he’d be a success here if we need a full rebuild over the next 2/3 years. Would much prefer him to Farke etc..

Ruud also speaks a great game. I'd be wary of people whose record puts you off, but whose personal charm won you over.

Do we really need to keep going down the 'possession at all costs' route? It didn't bring us our success in the first place, and it's not even the norm any more for smaller clubs that want to compete with the big boys. I'm not sure we need a boss who pushes a one-dimensional 'idea' rather than the right thing for the right set of players. Becoming a managerial 'brand' may well make you personally more marketable, but I doubt it's always for the good of their employers.

If what you build in the FLC is going to have to be dismantled upon promotion, I wouldn't bother building it in the first place. The idea of having to endure what we've just endured every other season is both awful and unnecessary, but when Maresca built his team around Faes / Vestergard / Ndidi / KDH / Vardy (i.e. what was left of the backbone to the side that had just got us relegated) it wasn't too hard to see that that was where we were headed.

Surely it would make more sense to appoint someone who could fashion a style of play which might actually be of some use when we reach the next step. Otherwise, you have a situation where you either stick with the boss (like Southampton with Martin himself) and get mauled, or lose him (as we were forced to with Maresca, and Leeds may well voluntarily do with Farke) and then face the commotion of a complete rebuild of both personnel and style of play in a single close season. And we know how that worked out for us this year.

I'd like to see us learn from our errors, just for once!

Give me a miserable sod who gives nothing away in press conferences - Pearson or a boring sod in interviews - Puel rather than Martin and Ruud.
The difference being Pearson and Puel to a lesser extent knew what they were doing.
Can’t stand the arrogance I’ve seen especially from Martin in interviews from a guy who’s only won one championship play off final.

Yes. Much prefer a pragmatic manager who gets on with the job without the need to mount a false charm offensive

I could be so wrong, we may end up with Martin and come out with nothing, but I’m on the same forum as those of you who thought Cannon was our next no.9 so I’ll take my chances

So did professional scouts and people that bring these players in, people that are paid money out of your pocket.

I mentioned  him weeks back ,we need to start afresh ,same as when Brian  Little joined ,fed up of journeyman "bignames ".

Wellens has been a little hit and miss, done well down place not so well others. His team do try to pass out from the back, saw them lose to burton a few weeks ago.

Dave challanor has done amazingly everywhere he’s been but a big risk.

Both Wellens and Challinor are in with a chance of promotion with their respective sides so could find themselves in the Championship due to their efforts this season. Challinor has an impressive 53% win rate.

As mentioned in the thread above both Brian Little and Martin O’Neill saw success at Darlington and Wycombe (via Norwich) before joining us so it would be worth considering them both.

Michael Appleton and Kevin Nolan are others worth considering  from the cheaper options . Appleton has  100% win rate at Leicester from his two matches in charge let’s not forget, and Nolan has been assistant to Moyes and experience of coaching the England under 20’s.
