You just might as well take a risk in The Championship with a younger manager not tainted with the sackings that O’Neil has experienced very quickly in ALL of his management experiences at Premier League level. How do players look at O’Neil? Like the rest of us, we know he isn’t good enough to lead a team at that level and so will the players. He showed it most recently last season when he first blamed VAR then publicly blamed his players for somehow managing to be worse than an awful LCFC team. Then Vitor Pereira came in and showed everyone that (as Wolves fans already knew,) Wolves’ poor form was down to O’Neil’s poor management. Makes you wonder then how managers cycle works then, once they show they're incapable of working at X level, no one will or should take them below that level because their past experiences mean they're guaranteed to not be able to take them forwards

fox_favourite Posted 7 July 2025 Posted 7 July 2025 (edited) So I think it's obvious Röhl is leaving, but it could be that he wants a break, takes the pay off and goes on a break to recharge after the chaos of Sheffield Wednesday. Wonder how he feels about his assistant getting the job and sounding like he really wants it. When Shakey took over from Pearson, it felt like he didn't really want to. This guy sounds well up for it Edited 7 July 2025 by fox_favourite

This guy sounds well up for it You would presume Rohl has done bugger all since the last game of the season and is well rested and ready to go. Presume he has someone dealing with the contracts for him. Managers don't often want to be out of the game for too long, and i presume would rather be as involved as possible with pre season. 1

oxtonfox Posted 7 July 2025 Posted 7 July 2025 Seems there’s a new favourite to be manager every 24 hours. So I guess we’ll not know until the music stops on Friday. My favourite would be Rohl but I’ll accept Mike Bassett or any Tom Cobley to put an end to this theatre show.

If a manager has consistently failed at clubs at the same level as Leicester then it’s very likely that he’ll fail at Leicester too. Why would it be any different? Are there many managers that buck that trend?

Wymsey Posted 7 July 2025 Posted 7 July 2025 Don't know why Gerrard has been thrown into the ring by the Bookies tbh. He shouldn't have left Rangers for Villa when he did. 1

Based on the fact we love anyone who has ever worked at Southampton, i guessing Ivan Jurić will be tomorrows tip. 1

Are there many managers that buck that trend? It's just not that simple is it. If Pearson returned tomorrow many of us would be ecstatic yet he'd hardly got rave reviews from Derby fans will he? We wouldn't recommend Cooper in the PL but Forest would. Sometimes the club fits the manager. Wilder Sheff Utd is another, stunk out Watford and Mboro. And managers are capable of learning from their own failures, O Neill particularly is new enough in the game to be doing that

I’ve literally asked who he was talking about and he said LCFC😂😂😂 it’s probably a load of BS though Seriously, I think we need to forget about this for now. Player salaries is every professional sports club's biggest monthly expenditure, by far. So if the club was having cashflow issues it would be them who wouldn't be getting paid. Not club staff who are on say £20K to £50K p/a. They would probably get laid off instead sadly. Also, due to Ruud's sacking, we've practically found out that payday at LCFC is at the end of the month. If there were staff that have gone unpaid for over a week, it would have surely been leaked to the press by now. 2

Tuna Posted 7 July 2025 Posted 7 July 2025 My guess is all the release of links with Wilder, O'Neil etc are to push along Rohl sorting himself out at Sheff Wed, Pederson signing a new contract tonight suggests things may be moving. 1 1
