We’re not getting a transfer embargo.

Wish we would. Any new signings are just going to be players that we're desperate to offload in a years time.

Not necessarily. The last time we went down we recruited fairly well on the whole, probably because it's much easier for a club of our size to recruit for a Championship promotion push than a PL survival bid. A transfer embargo imposed on us this summer would just mean we end up hanging onto many of the players who have failed us so abysmally this season. I don't fancy that personally.

It's because we got the managerial recruitment right.

It should be pretty obvious by now that we don't operate a DOF - Head Coach model, as we should.

We have a DOF in name only. We surrender all control to individual managers and are at their mercy to dictate transfer policy. Maresca knew what he wanted exactly and gave Glover clear instructions and a reasonable amount of freedom to operate. It went well.

In the case of Rodgers and Cooper it went ****ing largely appallingly.

There's little to no chance Ruud is still the manager next season so it's basically all going to come down to a dice roll or coin flip again. Will we make a smart choice on manager? We seem to do so one in every three or four attempts so yknow.

We aren't going to "learn our lessons" and change the operating model of the club any time soon so it's just going to come down to that one decision. Hopefully we get it right and this time he doesn't get poached after one season. If not, we'll be down in the Championship much longer this time.

Until we know who the manager is going to be next year, speculating over who's coming in or who'll be sold (other than very sellable assets the board will let go to cover losses) is pointless because it won't be Rudkin deciding it'll be New Guy.

I absolutely agree with your first point: we have definitely had a DoF in name only, which has left us heavily dependent on individual managers to dictate transfer policy. As you say, this can sometimes work but over the long run it is likely to go badly more often than it goes well.

Where I differ from you is that I have a hunch there will be changes behind the scenes and that Rudkin will not be our DoF next season. Our performances this season will have shocked the owners - they will not have been prepared for us to be this bad. No matter how obdurate and resistant to change they have been in the past, I think there will be a recognition that things need to change. Maresca was demanding a restructuring of operations behind the scenes before he left and it seems the club were willing to do what he asked, but then Chelsea came calling and those plans were shelved. I expect them to be revived this summer and Rudkin to move aside to make way for a new DoF, although it obviously remains to be seen what kind of candidate we can attract for the role.

If Faes and Vestergaard are still Leicester City players come September 2025 I think that might be it for me, I’ll be off to the non-league to try and enjoy football again.

Faes will surely go. Vestergaard I'm not so sure...

Love the optimism but in reality I think it would be at most:

- £30m for Mads

- £12m for Ndidi

- £8m for Soumare

The rest we'll be lucky to shift on their wages, so it'll probably be they stay or get loans.

The other sellable assets are probably Bilal (25m) and Kristiansen (10m). Maybe somebody would take a chance on Fatawu but coming off a big injury I'd be surprised.

I completely agree, the best we can hope to get for Soumare is minus £8m

I can see it being hard to keep hold of Bilal if ... sorry when we get relegated, but he's someone I'd prefer we keep.

Fatawu too, even coming off a big injury.

Still have a soft spot for Pereira (and if I'm honest N'didi too).

Vardy might still offer something in the championship, but for the amount we'd save on his wages we may be better investing elsewhere. (Sad as it is to say that).

I'd love to keep Mads but think that's even more unlikely than Bilal.

Rest can do one. Whatever we can get for them.

Rebuild, focusing on young, hungry raw diamonds, who we can sell on for huge profits and won't be on a high wage.

Hope we go back at first time of asking, a leaner, younger, but hungrier team, who'll give a much better account of themselves than the shambles we have there now.

I would invest our entire summer budget in paying off the losses to get these players out of the door.

Yeah defo play with the youngsters, get rid of the vast majority of the senior squad, I hate most of them.

If we have to go down again to rebuild properly then so be it, currently we are jumping from disaster to disaster, not sustainable.

This would be fine if they change their approach. These lot would pay off all our current squad, then sign a load more duds or pensioners and stick them on silly money.

Tbf if you garden leave the waste like Faes and others etc  we still have a good chance with Fatawu coming back and Monga, Alves, Evans, Nelson coming into the fold with their unknown high potential and a new manager they seem to like and want to perform for.

You’ve got 3 right and their total adds up to nothing.

Realistic version, the best we can hope for is Saudi league gets drunk and fancies someone like Daka or Ndidi

Mads Hermansen (GK) - £40m (done before books close to garuntee psr balances and maybe a promise of a loan coming our way)
Wout Faes (CB) - £5m (international player some how)
Jannik Vestergaard (CB) - £0
James Justin (RB) - £2m
Wilfred Ndidi (DM) - £6m
Jamie Vardy (ST) - Retired
Daniel Iversen (GK) - Free
Patson Daka (ST) - £3.5m
Boubakary Soumare (CM) - £4.5m (gets decent reviews out of England)
Danny Ward (GK) - Free
Bobby Decordova-Reid (RW) - £0
Jordan Ayew (RW) - £0

Only just seen this - full credit to you for squeezing J. Mascis into the transfer talk section, though Feel the Pain seems even more apt for our current predicament...
