Silva. Hands down. Everyone else - no matter how useless - has contributed something . Goals. Blocks. Penalty saves in cup games. But Silva  gave us  as close to zero as is possible. And cost a fortune, was totally embarrassing as a signing process and had zero influence  on any game. Absolutely abysmal.

Yeah I think many fans (myself included) give him a bit of a break as the club cost him half a season and I always looked at it as if he was coming back from a big injury but when you look at someone like tonali, you can see the time away from football can’t really be an excuse

Danny Ward has to be the end all of this conversation... he can't stop anything, Pretty much single handedly took us down 2 years ago, got RVN to gift him 2 starts this season and was shell shocked back to oblivion in under 10 mins...

No real value back from any of them. Have I missed anyone? My word we like to piss money up the wall.

If free transfers also count then you missed out another Saints reject from the 0-9 night, Bertrand!

Castagne was a perfect test case for why Rodgers is a mediocre coach.

Joined us after being coached by Gasperini, who is world class. First season with us he had a great footballing IQ, always making the right runs going forwards and read the game intelligently when defending. At that point in time he was better than Chilwell and one of the best fullbacks in the league.

Fast forward to our relegation season and he was constantly playing the opposition onside and was all over the place defensively. He had become a complete donkey that gave the likes of Amartey and Faes a run for their money in terms of pig headedness.

You almost have to treat Castagne in his debut season and his final season as two different players. In the first season he was an important part of the FA cup win, in his last he was a key factor in our relegation.

Missing that sitter at Newcastle too!

Ricardo? Mavididi? Justin? Castagne? Fofana? Evans? Soyuncu?

Ricardo?  Yes.  Big oversight on my part.

Evans? Yes.

Justin?  Hmmm...that's a matter of opinion.

Fofana?  No.  Very good player.  A signing that worked out terribly for us.

Castagne?  Average.  We should have done better when Chilwell left given our standing and the length of time we had to plan.

Mavididi? Ok.  Inconsistent.  Good Championship player.

Soyuncu?  Master of the meltdown. Another that downed tools and left on a free.  Obviously I'm not privy to the inner dealings the squad but when he was criticised for play acting injury on motd, in the lead up to a goal conceded v Spurs he was rightly dropped.  We barely saw him again under Rodgers.  I think that it is reasonable to assume that he reacted very badly to that instead of swallowing his medicine.  We needed him in our relegation season and he was sulking.  Not for me.  Don't care how massive it is.

I would genuinely rather someone do nothing than do what Ward did to this club. If he didn't play we never would have been relegated in 22/23, and things may have been much different for us.

Well there was that outrageous pass against Fleetwood Town in the FA Cup, and the assist for Mahrez against Watford. So not strictly true.

Winston Bogarde mk II

I mean:

“I don’t know about the contract details. From our side, It makes no sense to bring him back because if he’s not playing at Leicester, then why should he play for Crystal Palace?   SAYS A MANAGER WITH A BRAIN, proved by reaching the FA Cup Final

Absolutely nowhere near the worst signing we've made post-title and probably a different discussion but I don't think I've ever seen a player quite as night and day as Soyuncu.. First half of 19/20 he looked like he could go onto be one of the best centre halves in the world then just suddenly completely and irreparably fell apart..

Clearly something went on behind the scenes in 22/23 hence Rodgers not giving him a kick and persisting with Faes and Amartey, but even in 20/21 he wasn't quite the same..

Has to be Ward. Maybe not a disastrous signing on paper but in terms of effect on the club he is unmatched. I could cry thinking about the 22/23 relegation and how avoidable it was.

Don't think it was as drastic as some people made out, but certainly not the same player. Though you only had to look at how he played when Smith put him in to see the massive upgrade he would have been on Faes and Amartey

Pound for pound it’s Slimani and Musa, all day.

Massive amounts for 2016.

Adjusted for inflation and transfer fee rises we spaffed in excess of 61,000,000 on these pair.

SIXTY ONE MILLION.

Both were the wrong signings and stunk of having no real plan in place.

Closely followed by Soumare and Vestergaard, I might add.

Completely forgot the ridiculous fee we paid for him.

Its simple, if we had an average keeper in the sticks all of that season, we would not have been relegated.

When you fast forward to now and realise that 10m on a backup goalkeeper means we can't even now spend 10m on anyone puts it into context even more.

I remember seeing someone post on here that he fears Ward will somehow end up back in goal for us. I thought not even Leicester would allow that. Should have known better.

Dreadful transfer though it was, unlike the others, we pretty much made all our money back on Musa. We may even have turned a small profit in terms of book value. So I would rate a fair few others as worse.

Jesus wept the more I look into stuff the worse it gets.

We paid over 12.5m for Ghezzal.

13m for Mendy. (19m in todays money😂

15m for Iborra.

30m for Perez. (6 years ago, god knows what this would be now)

18m for Praet.

23m for Daka.

32m on VK and Souttar.

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

At the time though it was a complete misuse of the hard earned prize money.

Slimani should’ve been Deeney.

Musa money should’ve been used for competition for Albrighton/Mahrez.
