Anyone else feel that yesterday was the end of the generation that was started back in 2008?

Feels like for better or worse we’re going to be a completely different club now going forward

We've gone full circle.

In the mid 2010s- early 2020s we were light years ahead of the club we were in 2008.

Right now we are light years behind the club we were in the mid 2010s - early 2020s.

I wouldn't say its the Pearson generation. I'd say that ended around the same time that Shakespeare left the club (RIP Shakey) in late 2017 - we'd had the title and the champions league run, the title-winning side and staff had mostly started to depart and we were starting a rebuild.

However it is the first time since 2008 that I don't feel like there's really a 'talisman' at the club - in any capacity - now that Vardy is gone. Pearson, Vardy, Ranieri, Vichai, Schmeichel have all been that, but there's not really anyone prominent in the squad/board (ha)/management who fits the bill anymore. Probably why so many have felt apathetic towards the club this season, but still felt compelled to turn up yesterday for JV (myself included).

King is around, but as backroom staff he's not really on the forefront. Even Shakey had much more of a presence to the fans when he was assistant.

The last two pillars were Kasper and Vardy.

Perhaps it's now Daka and Ayew's time to shine?

Daka couldn’t shine he own boots properly. Not fit as lead striker

From the day Pearson got us promoted to this season we've felt like a PL club even with the previous relegation now we not only feel like but we are a Championship club in every respect from Top to bottom apart from Seagrave which is the diamond in the rough.

Is it a diamond in the rough or a massive noose around the neck?

I know what you're saying but even Vardy was four years away from being signed still back in 2008 - and was done so for Pearson spell two of course, not when we were in League One under NP!

Kingy’s still with the club - can we count him?

Was here before Pearson.

It's probably made the players softer! I'm not saying go back to how say, Cambridge  operated under John Beck in early 90s (cold showers, etc) or indeed how training was under O'Neill (hard running around Bradgate Park and Dunstable Downs, etc) but I think the move to Seagrave hasn't helped in that regard. I mean the amount of injuries has gone through the roof since being there hasn't it? That was more probably after Dave Rennie departed though as much as anything, unlikely to just be coincidental in any way!

Well it's very shiny and expensive.:D

Owning a diamond that you spent your last £ss on but cant sell would be a noose around the neck. They're not mutually exclusive.

To be completely honest it should've ended a while ago. I think it's testament to how well he did here, and how badly those in charge now are that it's gone on until now.

Many on here have been saying the same thing again and again for the last 2-3 years, and we still are.

The sad thing is that so much of the joy we gained over many of the last 10+ years has been destroyed by simple bad decision after bad decision, by people who are just ill-equipped to hold the roles they do and make the decisions they do.

No succession planning, no strategic thought, but kneejerk reaction rather than proaction, continual horrendous transfer activity and wage structure with a few exceptions, wasting money hand over fist, not recognising early enough when the ship was heading downwards.

That joy has been turned by others within the club to just a general disenchantment and disconnection, frustration and anger.

At the moment I just don't massively care, though at least County are going to get promoted and are TOP OF the LEAGUE, so lets have a summer off from this "sh#tshow" season as somebody called it recently.

I've got the DVD's I can always watch those instead:D:appl:or the Cricket, Tennis etc.

How utterly depressing, and completely true.

Yep it's as worrying as **** as we have nobody competent in any executive or management position it appears.

However you want to describe it, it's most certainly the closure of a chapter in the club's history.

If they had any nous at the top, it's the ideal time now to salvage something about beginning again. I don't think they will though because that concedes failure has taken place.

Yes it feels like an end of an era - Vardy exemplified everything that Pearson and his coaches/recruitment team did.

Like all eras, they end. I'm glad we managed to squeeze 13 years out of it!

Perhaps looking back, we appreciate just how special that time was, and pleased it was our club.

Yep

The final curtain fell

Its not just about Vardy but it’s what Vardy leaving signified.

Been on a right downer the last 24 hours, and I don’t even go to the games any more.

Even if we signed another Vardy tomorrow, I’d be over 50 years old by the time he’s been here 13 years and scored 200 goals. Frightening.

It all really adds to the feeling of disappointment and discontent I feel towards the club atm. Complete end of an era. Watching the vardy good bye reminded me why I love the club and football in general. But it makes the need for a good summer from the club even more apparent to start a new era and fire some life into the club.
