Good for them. Proves the gap is a myth if you recruit well and put in a modicum of effort on the pitch.

I'm not dismissing their achievements but they're down 140m on their summer business. They spent nearly 200m euros :) As well as there doing, it's not a miracle of recruitment.

What's the reason for two 8pm kickoffs next Saturday, and no earlier game next Sunday?

Because the Arsenal and Palace games were moved from the Sunday as both teams are playing their league cup tie the Tuesday afterwards (23rd)

Classic number 9  header from Woltemade - just a shame for Newcastle it was in the wrong net!

Villa seem to like a long range goal and fancy Man City for the title with so many attackers in great form.

You spelt ‘striker’ wrong.

Nice to see Sunderland beating Newcastle.

Whilst both sets of fans are passionate, I've always found Sunderland's generally to be friendly and fair-minded.   Whilst Newcastle's have always seemed to have an edge of malice in them.   Had numerous run-ins with Newcastle over the past umpteen decades, but never any problems off Sunderland.

(In 2015-16 loads of Sunderland fans applauded our team off the pitch, even though they had just lost a crucial relegation match 0-2.   They appreciated the significance in proper non-rich club footballing terms.   Newcastle fans would never have done that.  Too "big" and arrogant)

Olivier Giroud played for UK clubs for 9 years.

He's on Sky as a pundit and his level of English, for someone who worked here for nearly a decade, is not that good.

He's struggling a bit to express himself and couldn't understand Carragher (maybe give him a pass on that last point  lol )

Nothing I like better than listening to Gary Neville when Manu are losing.

It's even better because he waxing so lyrically about his beloved team at the end of the first half.
