Maddison contributed more in our relegated season than any other players. Double figures for goals and probably assists too. If only the other players contributed similar.

I find it hard to dislike him.

Although his w@nk penalty relegated us

Pretty ambivalent towards Madders. Very talented player who played a lot of good football during a pretty good spell for us. Seems like a good guy. But didn't really produce any iconic moments and contributed very little to our second greatest achievement in our history. And the bottom line is, as the post above points out, his very shit penalty basically relegated us, and he'll be remembered for that as much as e.g. the performance against Arsenal in autumn 2019. Such is football.

Harvey Elliott: Aston Villa seeking solution for on-loan Liverpool player - BBC Sport

Weird situation this, I'm trying to work out if Villa are trying to avoid playing in fear they would need sign him permanently or Elliott is refusing to play sighting he doesn't want to sign for Villa long term. Think may more sense to cancel the loan move and send him back to Liverpool.

Which is a bit of shame really, as even during that season he registered double digit goals and 9 assists

A couple of high-profile mistakes overshadow what would be classed as a productive season for a midfielder competing towards the top of the league, never mind a struggling team near the bottom. Which is understandable, however if we had 10 other players (maybe 9 as Barnes did well too) performing at that level we wouldn't have been in any trouble at all.

Anyone can miss a penalty or make a mistake, these things happen and at the time I felt they were a result of a player who was actually trying too hard as opposed to one that didn't care, which I didn't feel was the case for much of that team. I actually had more of an issue with the 'play like that and we'll be fine' tweet, primarily as it gave an insight into the attitude of the squad which didn't change until it was too late.

How much more do we need to hear that Liverpool's current problems are because they are still grieving for Jota? Dion Dublin and Chappers going on about it on 5Live. Give it a rest. Is this why Wolves are so shite?

The grieving comments are BS. That said, they are missing a great player which IMO has some impact but not at the level they currently find themselves in.

The good news for them is while they likely wont win this year, a top 4 place is still very much on.

For me Maddison's always seemed like a top lad off the field and ability wise he's one of the best to have played for us.

His attitude on the field always rubbed me up the wrong way though, strikes me as someone who's been able to get to the top with his ability and he doesn't have that real bite or desire to win. Ambling to take a corner as snail's pace when we're chasing a game and generally looking lethargic and going missing for large portions of seasons, never mind games.

Strikes me as someone who's quite chilled and ultimately win or lose he's not too fussed, he knows he's gonna earn an absolute bag from the game due to his ability. Which is a personality trait I feel like you can attribute to a hell of a lot of our players since Pearson left.

Whereas someone like KDH seems to have had to really graft and has that mentality that he wants to win his battles and do his best to help the team, despite not having that obvious ability that Maddison has.

This is put in a way I can understand.  Anybody can (and most will) judge what they see on the pitch.

I always had a bone to pick with those who, from the day Maddison showed up with a stupid ₤1,000 plastic backpack, nothing he did on the pitch made a rat's ass worth of difference.

I tell you what, I reckon Arsenal will bottle it again this season... they always start good and then it fades away over Christmas.... Man Shitty to win it again................

A lot of their fans are already feeling this. If they don't win tonight there will be a full on melt down

You can't compare wolves and Liverpool in that situation. He had just won the title with Liverpool and all of their players that summer. Most of the wolves players have probably never had a conversation with him or knew him as he left there 5 years ago.
