Now that we have lost our iconic legend, I started thinking about players who were particular crowd favourites during my time of following The City. From 1966, Banks, Gibson, Dougan, Glover, Large,  Wortho, Weller, Lineker, Gary Mac, Walshie, Muzzy, Fryatt, Knocky, all of the Champions, but particularly Vardy, Fuchs, Huth,  Albrighton and Morgan. Probably missed others’ favourites but these are mine.

Can't believe you mention Fuchs and Albrighton but not Kante and Mahrez

Fuchs and Albrighton had a bit extra affinity with fans. This is not about best players.

Started going in 82 so caught Gary Lineker, loved Paul Ramsey and Steve Lynex from that era too. Fast forward a few years and GaryMac lit up some average games. Walshie provided so many dramatic moments.  Similar with Ooh! Tommy Wright. The PO Semi v Cambridge United is still my favourite ever 90 minute performance from a City player. He was unplayable on a night when we needed a Hero. Muzzy Izzet is another standout memory from the MON years before you start reeling off the Champions XI and of course Vardy 🐐

Kante was my hero. Never seen a player put in such consistently high performances over a whole season before.

Only here for one season, but I'll forever argue that we never win the league without his consistently excellent performances in the league.

Not interested in a debate, done it hundreds of times before. Don't @ me.

Kante was extraordinary that season with us he must have been the best player in that position in the world.

I was staggered week after week by his performances - He seemed to play both sides of Drinkwater and cover both full back - simply incredible

Going way back, Jimmy Walsh and then slightly more recently, Frank Worthington, but the best of the lot, Gordon Banks.

Giving my age away here...

Frank Worthington for me. Notwithstanding what Vards achieved, and the impact he made, FW is still my GOAT and biggest hero. Probably what sticks as a kid at times. From that same team, Dennis Rofe, Steve Earle, Bob Lee, Mark Wallington, Keith Weller all big heroes.

Later Alan Young, Larry May, Gary Lineker, Dave Buchanan, Andy Peake, Alan Smith. Walshy of course. Matt Elliott, Muzzy, Kante, Fuchs, Vards.

In terms of fan connection, my 3 favourites were:

  Mark Wallington

  Steve Walsh

  Jamie Vardy.

Obviously loads of other great players down the years ... too many to mention off the top of my head.
