Always love this week every year where we roll out pictures of Walsh and Claridge. Even the other two play off finals we don't talk about were this week in history.

Must have been great in the 90s going to Wembley all the time.

Bonkers, really.      We didn't go to Wembley for 23 years from 1969 to 1992, then it was 7 trips there in a 8 year period.

(4 playoff finals: 92, 93, 94, 96 and 3 League Cup Finals: 97, 99, 00)

It was.  The 90s were my favourite time of being a supporter, despite our relatively recent successful period.

id love to go back, purely because of the enjoyment as a fan, the older more atmospheric grounds (which soon after started to disappear), terracing,  the fact i didnt need a loan to get a ticket and on lots of occasions just simply decide Saturday morning you were going to an away game and jump on a train. Oh and yes of course....the wembley visits.   Simpler, more enjoyable times.....for me anyway

There was something very special about the Little years, he wasn’t just a good manager, it felt like a crusade.

I think it was what he achieved that made us so bitter about him leaving, in hindsight you can’t really blame him for going to the club he’d played for all his career.

That might be the goal that finally takes them...to heaven.

That pause is legendary. lol

Always loved Alan Parry's commentary. Soundtrack to our 90s play-off trips.

The whole match day experience back then was amazing. The buzz before, bus journey down, dressed in all blue, the chants, the welcoming the bus to the stadium, the noise inside out, the passion, the emotion. I’ve never experienced it like that since 94,96 and 97 league cup win. Take me back

I wasn't yet 4 when this happened but my earliest memories of city are watching this on VHS at home over and over before I really understood it all.

Couldn't agree more. Saving my dinner money for the week and going to Tranmere away...

We’re in a nightmare now.

To me it feels far worse than when we were relegated to Division 1. I've never had such little interest in them and felt so disenfranchised. There aren't even that many players that I feel I like anymore. I also think it's also the prospect of rinse and repeat tippy tappy dullness that's so uninspiring too.

Same. I was bought up on VHS season reviews, video magazines and compilations. The season review for 93/94 and playoff highlights tape gave an almost mythical flavour of the day. Warm sunshine, happy fans and the culmination of three years of hard, hard work. As you went through the tapes and highlights in the 90s it was just normal that we'd have a day out at Wembley (and the weather always seemed to be amazing for us...)

Here's a couple of videos I managed to scramble from a tape someone gave me a few years ago, Central News at the post-promotion trophy parade at Viccy Park.

I was there at Vicky Park. Remember Coatsworth and Oldfield chucking shirts into the crowd.
