I don't think he'd have necessarily made it with us but it really is piss poor he didn't get a sniff of a loan before being released in his early 20s.. Pleased to see him doing so well up there..

Agreed, maybe a positive loan would have made clubs try and sign him and earn us a couple of hundred thousand too.

Sorry I missed this yesterday, just replying now - I have to be fully honest and I didn't really have eyes on Leicester players.  

 

Overall it felt like the U21 team has some real talent in it but I was more interested how the new Brackley players looked so paid more attention to them

 

It did feel odd as at times I struggled to know who I was supporting!

Leicester City’s training ground and academy production line give them “incredible potential” to sustain themselves at the top, believes manager Marti Cifuentes.

The new boss knows promotion back to the Premier League is the main objective for City but he is aiming to get to the top flight in a way that can keep them there.

And he's named two factors that can help his cause. The Spaniard believes the state-of-the-art headquarters at Seagrave can attract high-quality players, while also backed the club to produce their own through their academy, which is on a hot streak at the moment.

 

“For me it’s very clear that this club has some areas where the potential is incredible,” Cifuentes told BBC Radio Leicester.

“We have one of the best training grounds in the world and this is enough to attract very good players. At the same time, we have to make sure we really develop them and help them to be the very best version of themselves.

“Then we have an academy that I’m so excited to start to work with. I really believe in the young talent.

“I’m a big believer that having these possibilities is a very good way to sustain and to keep growing as a club.”

With Jeremy Monga and Jake Evans permanently stepping up to the first team this season, and with Louis Page, Bade Aluko and Jayden Joseph also in contention, City’s squad will be full of homegrown talent.

With Jakub Stolarczyk, Ben Nelson, Luke Thomas, Hamza Choudhury, Kasey McAteer and Will Alves to choose from too, it’s not out of the question that half of City’s matchday squad could be from their own academy.

Cifuentes said: “It’s part of my way of understanding the game and my background as academy coach. I’m a big believer in young players, giving them the right platform to express themselves.

“It’s never easy. The jump is really challenging here in England, especially at a club like Leicester, with big players, big demands, big expectations. But what I’ve seen so far is that we have an amazing potential.

“I’m looking forward to working with them, and then in some moments they will receive my confidence. It’s up to them as well to show they belong here and that they have the right qualities.

“For sure, what they’re going to get from me is the confidence to express themselves and to enjoy playing football, because that’s what it should be about.”

Tom Wilson-Brown on loan to Swindon should be a good move especially if we have, like other clubs do, inserted a guarantee of games clause.

Would genuinely love us to put that team out for a FA Cup 3rd round game or something. Build up to it properly for a few weeks, make a real thing of it. Proper statement to the youth lads.

I love the excitement we all have for our academy at the minute but I do think people need to chill a bit on where they are at with their development.
 

Out of the current batch of academy lads we have coming through I would say Monga, Nelson and Alves are the ones ready for regular first team football. Aluko and Page are very close to being in that group but currently I feel should be used as good depth pieces with opportunities to play throughout the season. 
 

The rest of the lads either need more time with the 21’s or loan moves away.

I accept that for Championship games we cant select half a team's worth of academy raw players all at once !

Some of them might be tall enough in theory but how many would be really good in the air ? Only Nelson for me

If the ball couldn't go above head height then that team might well be mid championship standard at the very least

Holloway had some encouraging words after TWB came on in Swindon’s win last night

 

“He’s a left-footed centre-half who’s quick as hell, who’s big, and he can win headers, as we could see. I thought he did ever so well.”

 

Everything we need, he just needs a bloody good season it really would be nice to have 2 academy players as the core CBs along with Soutter, Okoli + we have the flexible Aluko.
