Massive congratulations to Louis Page on his call-up to the England MU18 squad for the upcoming UEFA U19 European Championship qualifiers.

I’ve watched Louis put in the work day in and day out, and honestly, the lad has been absolutely amazing this season. Seeing him transition so smoothly into the Leicester City first-team environment has been a joy to watch. To rack up 16 Championship appearances at his age—while still dominating in the U21s and FA Youth Cup—shows exactly the kind of character and talent he possesses.

He isn’t just a technical player; he’s got the engine and the heart to match. This England call-up is the perfect reward for all those extra hours on the training pitch and the maturity he’s shown leading the midfield for the Foxes this year.

Go and smash it in Croatia, Louis. You’ve earned every bit of this.

Monga and Page are probably the exception to the rest of that squad in particular though… 

 

 

They’ve played more first team football than any other player in those squads - Think Heskey, McAidoo (Man City) Walsh (Chelsea) and Burrowes (Villa) have a few sub appearances between them but that’s about it. 
 

Page and Monga are good enough for the U19s group but that team is absolutely stacked with talent. Dowman, Ngumoha, Moore, Rigg, Nyoni, Mukasa etc, ridiculous.

We've been losing comfortably in probably about half of our defeats so there's been no pressure at all in the final 30 minutes, those games have been the perfect opportunity to give Hutchinson/Evans/Briggs etc 10 or 15 minutes. 

 

Those 10 or 15 minutes a) massively help the player's development but b) also put them in the shop window for better loans. Instead these opportunities are blocked by pointless signings like Aribo or Richards who offer zero long term value - actually negative long term value because they get in the way and cost us X amount.

It needs to be said - this isn’t a wild idea.

 

We have weeks to prepare for our next game, which is at home, so get him training with the first team as much is allowed, build him up and give him a go from the start.
