The powers that be are probably gutted teams like Man U , Liverpool and Barcelona aren’t there as they would  potentially draw more of a crowd ?

Atlanta stadium is 71k capacity so even half full it would still look empty (depending on glass) the official attendance was around 22k mark but what were they expecting, even LA fans would have to travel 4hrs 15mins on a school day to watch their team, that’s like Chelsea fans travelling LHR to Paphos for a night the distances are nuts for fans to see their local teams & I can’t imagine there are 200k+ football tourist doing the rounds trying to get to as many games as they can so it will be reliant on locals and those that have taken time off work to attend.

As someone mentioned previously bit ambitious to kick this off in a country that has football as it’s 4th or 5th sport 🤷‍♂️

The other game didn't really have much genuine Chelsea or LA fans while this game feels like the crowd have actually come up from Argentina 👏🏼

Stadium is around 64k capacity and the whole lower tiers all around are full but the camera angles is shite so can’t really see the upper tiers other than 1 quick shot but there were supporters up there, would guess 45-50k crowd most of which are Boca home fans it would seem.

As an a side, Roberto your a plump grey 58yr old let the ponytail go man!

Boca Benfica the game of the tournament so far. No surprise - the Argentines are always great value in tournaments. I do see how much it clearly means to teams like those and find it hard to completely shit on it.

USA in general is a bad host. It's just too big. I'm sure the 2026 World Cup covers a bigger distance than Euro 2020 that was played all over Europe (and bloody Baku).

Well FIFA cut their nose off by restricting it two teams per country. They'd have got Liverpool in but ended up with Salzburg

The South American v Europe games are the only reason worth watching. That and the support from the African sides.

Last night's game like one of the old Intercontinental Cup games

Yeh, trying to see the South American teams in the sunshine states at the World Cup next year is a big aim.

Why? People at work and kids are at school or college, do you think that LA supporters are going to travel all the way to Atlanta

They are scheduling the games to suit the reigons. You will get more people from Europe watching at them times. the one where they are putting the Mexican team as a priority over Inter Milan will be because they are a host nation in the next world cup. No one in the US cares about LAFC now Inter Miami have Messi and co.

My new second favourite team are Auckland City

Bunch of lads with normal jobs on an all expenses paid trip to the USA. Forget the score against Bayern, these lads are having the time of their lives.

Come on City!!!!

Boca Benfica ending a draw is quite funny in terms of that group - it's just going to mean it's about whoever batters Auckland the hardest and doesn't have Bayern do the same to them.

Yeah I'm cheering on Auckland City also, just imagine probably going into this tournament they probably had the same amount fanbase as say Harborough Town. Club size wise and probably level is about the same as Harborough Town.

In terms of developing this tournament itself it could work, I think for certain league's in the world they need a proper qualification process. In terms of Europe, say they took this to a 48 club tournament. Maybe for 2029 Fifa Club World Cup, in the champions league 2028/29 teams that finished within the top 16 league phase automatically qualify for the club world cup in the summer of 2029.
