Leicester residents believed to have been on crashed plane - British MPpublished at 17:02

17:02

The MP for Leicester East has said she understands "a handful of Leicester residents" were onboard the crashed plane.

Shivani Raja tells the BBC's Rajini Vaidyanathan that her community, which has a high population of British-Gujaratis, is "really horrified and devastated waking up to such tragic news".

"So far my understanding is that there are a handful of Leicester residents who were on board that flight - but I am still awaiting for official reports on that," the Conservative MP says.

Calling bs on the survivor. Million to one chance with a plane full of fuel and the subsequent inferno

inclined to agree with you - but how has he got such a clean looking boarding pass ?  Surely no one is going to take that from a body and pretend to be that person ???

miracles do happen - that’s why there’s a word to describe such happenings!

apparently his family have spoken to him and it’s true !!

Dislike on the news hearing suggestions of engine malfunction or crew error by experts. If the Crew have died, no need to drag their names through until there's any real evidence

Rush to judgement is a common problem these days

I didn't like earlier BBC were speculating about how much this might cost Boeing, and started mentioning how people km the 737s were killed in two separate crashes. Speculating about what might have happened on today's tragic incident in terms of plane malfunctions etc.

Boeing have already offered the families 86k each, which is really weird.

How is it possible one person survives the crash and they just wander about afterwards? That’s crazy!

Jumped out apparently! Who knows when or how he could do that, but it's spectacular anyway.

Apologies, I meant air India. Still strange though.

Yeah to announce immediate compensation I've not heard about before!
