I'm ready to burn the government, billionaires and wealthy cvnts down if AI destroys my friends  and families ability to earn money , buy food, live a decent life etc. The AI scientists better watch out too, they will be targets.

Oh, and as a general comment on what some folks believe to be the matter behind this talking point:

I really don't think any nation with nuclear weapons is in a position to say they're being too (italicised for emphasis) victimised, simply because they always have that very absolute option to address whoever might be victimising them.

The nuclear option is not in fact an option if those who are attacking you are in fact in your country.  Or even right next door.

Fundamentally, if the masses don't have money to spend, the economy will grind to a halt and the rich won't be able to sell their goods and services.  I suspect it will be quite painful along the way though.

The argument is that certain companies will rake it in (data storage, AI companies, power companies etc) and so the government will be able to extract revenue and pay for us all to have a life of leisure...  Will believe it when I see it. But it could mean a lot of jobs in the leisure, luxury and experience sector where the well-off will spend their gains.

That is AN argument.  I suspect more likely is the economy shifts as it has always done to value different things, and people will pay for that.  We definitely need to find an effective way of taxing companies based on where they earn revenues, not on where they are based or hold the IP.

Bang on.

Money is essentially blood. It needs to circulate. Too much in one place/belonging to very few people and it starts to hemorrhage and then death.

There's no point in having all the money in the world, since it will be worthless with nothing to spend it on.

So the right people seem to be converging on their narratives that it was the Hapoel fans who caused the game to be abandoned and that their ultras are left wing and have ties to communists and that it’s basically all an inside job.

I mean, strictly speaking the principle of MAD means that the nuclear option is no option for anyone, them included. However, I do think that claims of victimisation are a little hollow when a party can still choose that mutual destruction over subjugation at any time. It's not a great choice, but the choice still exists to them.

Piers Morgan going on about how toxic social media is (right) and then in the very next sentence praising Felon#47 as a politician for having "unfiltered" views.

Little bit of a contradicting viewpoint there? And have you forgotten your own (correct) comments in the aftermath of January 6th 2021 so easily, Piers?

... oh hey, another thing that Years and Years got right!

I'm wondering what they all have in common that would make them all susceptible to simultaneous attack though, unless this is the mother of all DDoS attacks - I wouldn't have thought an attack on that scale was even possible.

When they discovered North Sea Gas/Oil it was promised that we'd be getting all energy needs for free. The problem is that most people in government are just that people but with strong political beliefs without any serious knowledge of how to run anything so therefore promise political aims rather than practical and achievable aims.

Shame we didn't copy what the Norwegians have done rather than trying to aspire too and  mimic everything American (USA)

The comparison with Norway is a little unfair as they have much more oil than us and a tiny population.

Furthermore, they have huge hydro electric potential alongside their timber stocks, so they don't need it for domestic energy production.

Our big mistake was not investing in Nuclear back in the day, because nuclear=bad.

We could still have invested some of it besides Norway owns a controlling stake in their wells and a lot of the related operations we sold ours out for short term political gain to the Yanks.
