was that Draper walking with the crutch?

Yes, I spoke to Shannon way back in January about Denny and she said she was ‘a million miles away’ and had suffered ‘injury after injury’ she was on crutches at the Emirates the last time I saw her, definitely her on crutches again today.

& welcome to the top league LCL

are people going to stop assuming they're going to walk the league because they bought 16 players now?

thought she was in the vids of preseason running so hopefully this is just a minor set back, assuming she did her ACL it can take players a long time to come back, Abdul's recovery was very fast from that injury

Great win, probably quite fortunate, but we were resolute in defence and broke where we could.

Still dont look very sharp and there's still some chemistry to be gained as we struggled to string passes together.

I think Liverpool are going to struggle this season, so good to get into the habit of beating those around us, which is how we picked up most of our points last season.

Its an absolute relief to be off the mark!

Was a good win, did well defending for that long, there wasn't that many people down there, wonder if it was due to 12PM kick off, would there been more if it been 3PM

Yes, I think so. I was speaking to one of those that ran the stuff outside before the games for the kids, they'd also mentioned that there is also an internal understanding that the 12 o'clock kick offs are going to harm attendances. But the club can't do anything about it and essentially are dictated to by the league.

Thank you, I've been saying this for weeks now

Yes it's a shame, a bit more disruption for the match going fan, there is some 3PM later in the season, so that won't be too bad

Can we play with 10 players everyweek? Thought we were much improved after O'Brien went off!

T.b.f. she only has herself to blame, if she had not argued with the ref she would not have been booked, after having been given a yellow card to continue arguing was senseless.

That's a lesson learned for her, accept the refs decision rightly or wrongly and stay on the pitch.

I watched a few 5 min spells before the red card, ad we looked completely at a lower level to Liverpool, struggled to put a few passes together, attempted sprints ran into Liverpool players, just kept backing off whenever they had the ball, it was a very hard watch.

I then come to the red card, and that has to be one of the most idiotic decisions I have ever seen in a football match, Liverpool defender barges into our player twice, then proceeds to dive, the barges are ignored and a second yellow is issued for the dive.

In the end justice was done and great we came out of that winners, it seemed so unlikely in how the game started.  I assume we would appeal that card, but if I am right red's, from two yellows cant be appealed?

The clubs must have voted for this TV deal

The first yellow was deserved as she did dive in to tackle the player.

The 2nd yellow was theb because Shannon was mouthing off at the ref. Its understandable that Shannon was frustrated as it definitely should have been our free kick and she worked hard to earn it, but you have to be so careful when you're already on a yellow and she maybe just took it too far.

And no, I think you're right, reds from 2 yellows can't be appealed.

She said a few words whilst walking by, but nothing worse then that, it was actually the ref that decided to elevate it by calling Shannon back after she had already walked off.

Look at the area of the pitch as well, assistant should have been very close, and the dive wasnt noticed with also the liverpool player doing two big shoulder barges.  Sorry but that was just very bad refereeing, and I am not one who is scared to back ref's when I think a decision was fair against our team.

Whilst you can argue Shannon should have been calmer, we want our players fired up, and with such a bad decision, it would wind up many players.  Its quite simple really, dont fall fot the dive whether its corruption or amateur refereeing, then the mouthing of to the ref doesnt happen.

At the moment they are 3, but I expect they will likely move due to the sheer amount of fixtures that are being broadcast (pretty much all of them).

I just watched a little bit of the VOD back on the WSL YouTube channel and was actually astounded there was even far less there than I thought!

You dont know what those words were though, there must have been a reason that they called Shannon back. And even if that was the reason things enflamed, its still up to the player to be cool. Again, especially if you're already on a yellow.

It doesn't matter at the end of the day, we won and she will miss the Chelsea game in which we will purely be looking to avoid a hiding, then we move on to Spurs where we will need her back.

I cant stand blatant bad refereeing, at the very least that needs a panel review with a potential suspension for the ref and assistant.  They should be having to explain what happened there.  The worst to thing to do is brush it off and blame our own player.  This is why the best managers call out the FA.

Shannon is always fired up, if you look at the Villa home game last season when she comes on as sub she instantly flies into a tackle sending the ball into the crowd, she was annoyed by Miquel that day as she was benched.

She always gives a bit of chat back, there seemed to be 2 parts to it today, the first in which the ref pointed towards the tunnel seemed to get a further reaction, not sure what was said but it’s got her a red.

Really don’t know on the initial injury but appears to have had more problems with her stages of rehab, certainly the longest road to recovery out of all the injured players.

Awful news, horrible for his family and friends. Right now whether he was lined up to come here or not couldn’t be less important. One of the brutal realities of getting older, the number of people my age or less passing is getting to be terrifying. Gives you perspective for sure, RIP.
