I just can't imagine the guy getting peed off at a team if there 0-3 down at half time playing poor. Seems to nice and maybe shy, Morecambe fans will be more grateful they have club to support. Relegation likely expected from most supporters, but if they were to try avoid relegation you would think you safer option would be is to go for an experience National League coach rather than someone whose just starting and not really got much coaching experience.

He has a competitiveness and is very vocal on the sidelines.

Car crash waiting to happen.  Owners with no experience, a manager with no experience

Plenty of those owners and Managers about who keep getting being rewarded for failure, why not a new face?

Its a great story, i personally hope its a success:appl:

A nice Leicester vibe going on now at Morecambe. I live about 25 mins away so good excuse to finally go and watch them (have been threatening to for years!), though may have to do it soon as not convinced this set up will last long.

Just signed Harrison Panayiotou as their Number 9

We'll always have that winner at Elland Road.

When you see a set up principally recruit coaches and players from their Leicester connections I do have to wonder whether it will work out. It also doesn’t seem outside the realm of possibility, given the LCFC links, that they get current youngsters on loan?

Best of luck to them all though.

I hope they do well, but will the Morecambe fans really be too worried if this season turns out to be a real slog? They still have a club to support even if they do a double drop like Scunthorpe a couple of years ago.

Just noticed that their keeper is Archie Mair. Although he was only with us for a short spell, he's definitely remembered by Notts fans. Was brought on when our National League playoff final against Chesterfield went to pens and made an absolutely incredible save that got us promoted.

We're excited to announce Lee Tomlin as the new Assistant Manager of Morecambe FC.

Lee Tomlin joins Morecambe FC as Assistant Manager to Ashvir Singh Johal.
After an accomplished playing career that saw him play across every league in the EFL and the National League, Tomlin looks to join forces with Ashvir Singh Johal and instil their philosophy upon the team.

Our manager shared his thoughts on his new appointment and said: “Lee is someone I have known for a very long time. I knew that when I became a manager Lee was the person I wanted to be my assistant manager.

He had a fantastic playing career and has played in all the divisions of English professional football, including the Premier League.

He’s now gone into coaching after playing, and he’s worked at some great clubs. Lee has experience at Leicester City and then he was at Sheffield United so for me to bring him here as assistant manager is something that I’m really proud of.

The Manager added: “Lee’s expertise of the game and playing at the highest level, that’s something that I will tap into, and he’s going to be a big part of our coaching team but straight away you can see his mentality, how he is around the place, how he is with the players.

“He is someone that I can trust to take use to the next level so I’m really looking forward to working with him and I think he is someone that will add real value to our team.”

Lee Tomlin will be on the touchline this weekend for our first game at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium against Altrincham FC.

Morecambe part company with manager Johal
Ashvir Singh Johal on the touchline during his time as Morecambe manager

Ashvir Singh Johal previously worked alongside Como boss Cesc Fabregas

Morecambe have parted company with manager Ashvir Singh Johal with the club second from bottom in the National League table.

The Shrimps won just five out of 28 games under Johal and are five points adrift of the safety line with 18 games remaining.

Johal took charge following Panjab Warriors' takeover last August.

It came after a chaotic period which saw them relegated from the English Football League, while off-field issues plagued their pre-season and led to their suspension from the National League.

"Ashvir joined the Shrimps during a challenging period and has worked tirelessly alongside his staff to stabilise the squad, integrate new players, and represent the club with professionalism and integrity both on and off the pitch," a club statement said.

"The Board would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Ashvir for his commitment, dedication, and the way he has conducted himself throughout his time. He leaves with our best wishes for the future."

Assistant manager Lee Tomlin, alongside first team coach Neil Wainright, will take charge of the club while they begin the process of finding a new manager.

Having swiftly assembled a squad to contest the 2025-26 season, Morecambe battled to a 2-1 win at home to Altrincham to kick their campaign off.

Since then they have been on the receiving end of 17 league defeats and Johal's departure coincides with a five-game winless run in the National League as they look to avoid successive relegations which would take them into regional football for the first time since 1995.

Mixed day for Morecambe fans as they are unhappy to lose the kit maker
