Marti Cifuentes has managed a total of 322 games. This includes his time at various clubs, with his most recent stint being with QPR. He has also managed clubs like L'Hospitalet, Sandefjord, and Aalborg BK

Thank god for Ai

I think some people need to do more research into his managerial history before making misguided statements

All decent clubs then 😂 I read the 100 game bit wrong then.

The way it ended at QPR is a bit iffy but, IF it is to be believed that QPR have sold him a vision and not kept their end, I can see why he wanted out. That and the way QPR handled it afterwards where they effectively benched him to prevent him getting another job whilst hiring someone else points to them being difficult. Although, if you look at his history, he DOES have previous for jumping ship when the better oppertunity comes calling. He's done it at every club. That's why his average stay at each club so far in his career is about 1.5 year. He does the job he's expected to do then moves on.

The only real other reservation i have is the form of his teams. Every team he has been at are streaky to the maximum. They will win 5/6 in a row then not win for the next 5/6 before going on another little run. It's definitely a pattern to keep in mind.

Other than that, I'm fairly happy. He's one of the only managers we've been linked with who's career has been on an upward trajectory since it started.

Fans seem to like him due to his style of football which I think our squad is suited to and he should have the inside scoop of the Scandinavian market where there is some value for money.

He also has experience working under difficult circumstances which is a skill he will need here.

For me, it's an interesting appointment but will all depend on how much room and support Top and Rudkin give him to work.

Losing Maresca derailed us and Marti in the same situation would too, especially with how the club is currently run. If he absolutely kills it here this season to the point where a bigger side has no choice to poach him then I can't it'd be daft to complain, but I'd rather he only does a good enough job that doesn't warrant him leaving next summer lol

That would be the ideal scenario!

Just think that we need to get promoted at pretty much any cost, in order for Top to decide it's time and to make the club more sellable. It's the only way the club can get rid of the hierarchy and move forward.

Like you said, we hadn't prepared, in any way, for losing Maresca. And it derailed us. Which is unforgivable.

Compare our clueless lot to Paul Barber, the Brighton CEO. He said that the day they hired Hürzeler, they started the process of planning for his successor. This was to cover two eventualities – if things didn't go well under him, they would have a plan, or if things went astonishingly well and they lost him to a bigger club, they would have someone in mind to continue his work. At any given time, he said that they have a Plan A, plan B and a plan C. That's what a well-run business does.

You can’t compare them to him.

Why not?
Before joining us Pearson had kept Southampton up in the championship at our expense. Sounds familiar to what Cifuentes has done at QPR.

Who'd have thought we'd have a manager who's compensation amount was more than the transfer budget of the club he's about to be in charge of lol

Despite said club being in Europe more than one occasion within the last decade.

What a time to be alive.

Good luck Marti!
