Is Rohl's stint at Sheff Wed much different to Cifuentes at QPR? Possibly a bit less streaky and had more shit to deal with but not massively.

Both massive gambles which we can’t afford to take that said though they might be ok, we don’t know. Just a mad decision from Leicester once again

How massively  underwhelming.

Hardly the news to get you excited about the season.

Good luck to him, get behind the team, the lads, macca, the tea lady  and all that bo11ox

After weeks of Martin, Wilder and Rohl chat, we end up with Cifuntes.

Good luck to the guy. Fans will find reasons and stats to moan about every appointment. At the end of the day, the manager isnt the club's biggest issue right now.

Now for the guy above him.

Genuinely think our fans wouldn’t be happy whoever we appoint. I think this is a smart appointment. He was working on a shoestring budget at QPR and managed to do a steady job. Let’s not forget Enzo had only managed once previous to us and it was a disastrous spell at Parma.

We could have done a lot worse.

Ill definitely back him.

nobody’s first choice, but definitely nobody’s last either. Out of the names released, most were terrible. Rohl, Cifuentes and Svensson were the better ones.

im just glad we haven’t ended up with wilder or oneill personally.

now he just needs to get this rebuild going asap and ship out as many as he can!

And so proves the clubs sh** sandwich of links tactic works. lol

But in all seriousness, I think it is an interesting one and one that even if it came out before it would get my interest. I'm not over the moon, but intrigued and probably the best we can get at the moment.

I'll back him and see how he gets on. I feel a lot more positive going into the season than I was.

But this certainly doesn't hide the cluster poo that is behind the scenes and the need for a proper DoF and a board refresh. That is still stinking out an already rotten swamp

I must admit that I'm impressed having read what he's done at QPR. My one reservation is the respect or lack of it that he might recieve due to his not having the best of careers himself. According to Wikipedia he hasn't played senior football at all.

He never played on the big stage or professionally and people will probably shoot me down on this one but I do think this will be a caveat for some of our players.

That bloke at Arsenal didn’t do bad.

I’ve seen some of those facebook pages and had exactly the same thought. Why boast about your ignorance? Is it really something to be proud of? They seem to regard being chronically ill-informed on football matters is a badge of honour…

Not only is it a national pastime, it appears to be a worldwide phenomenon. And it's not an accident.

Crazy isn't it - we must have one of the thickest fanbases going. One of the reasons I can hardly face going any more.

Because of a few people on facebook, you cant face going to the football:scarf:

Well the Facebook masses are in uproar so he gets the seal of approval from me

By the way, the amount of people who say ‘who’ really shows how clueless are wider fanbase is. He’s managed in the Championship for the past couple of years and we have faced him on a a couple of occasions. Talk about barely scratching the surface level football knowledge!

Agreed, it's a shocker, but the reality is he's not a famous name who has previously been on tele week after week managing in the PL.

Personally, I'm really excited by this appointment. Rohl was marginally my preferred candidate but there's a lot of similarities between him and Cifuentes.

I think there's a lot of recency bias with Rohl because of the current issues with the owner but QPR aren't exactly a well run club either, and the shower Ainsworth left behind shows what an incredible job Cifuentes did. Yes, they've been inconsistent but that's no different to the other 18 teams that finish outside of the top 6, it's that kind of league. Let's not forget though that the QPR squad he had to work with was very poor. Even though our perception is we're awful, the squad he has to work with here is by far one of the best in league so let's judge him once he's had a chance to work with these players.

I was going to say we're slipping but it's more like hurtling toward another 1987 - 1991 / 2004 - 2009 malaise

Lets hope we can find another Brian Little or Nigel Pearson somewhere down the line to get us back after this latest ****ers ****ed it up

**** it. I'm going to stay positive and say that I'm actually excited.

Like @Ric Flair mentioned, Cifuentes will not hesitate to develop and rely on the youth. And we have plenty of talent in that department.

Bringing in someone like Dyche (or Wilder to a slightly lesser extent) would, in my view, mean that we'd not utilise that pool of talent next season. With either of those two in charge, it could have even meant losing some of the younger players.
