I wonder if there's concerns at the club regarding his injury.

 

After watching him in the past few weeks, I think it's clear to say 'He's got a point to prove, and might be trying to hard.' 

 

I think 30m for a player who's had one quality season in the championship and a terrible ACL is a great move.

Well "confident" seems a little bit of an exaggeration.  The article says he's one that they would like, initial talks have happened with Leicester who told Sunderland to poke it.  Also says Cifuentes wants to keep him.  Sounds like misplaced confidence to me.

If we sell for 30 million we are finished and the season is over before its started.  Honestly feel like lose him and bek with points deduction we will be relegated. The fans will turn and the club will become even more toxic than it is!!

I reckon if Sunderland offer around £35m + £5m in add ons we do a deal. That would generate over £20m in PSR profit and further opportunity with the add ons and for a player off the back of an horrendous injury. 
 

I am not advocating it I love Abdul but the club will look at this purely from a financial perspective

No point in us existing any more then with that kind of attitude.
