Haven't really played since FIFA 18 - have they bothered to improve career mode at all in the meantime? That'd be the only reason I picked it up tbh, I sometimes liked the more arcade-y career mode as opposed to tryharding a FM save.

First impressions its good.

Theyve said theyre curbing the power curve this year so gold cards last longer.

Got kroos in my pre order pack

Agree so far seems good albeit with only 4 squad battle games in. Got Gerrard in my pre order pack.

Haven’t really had much interest in it for a while but I have seen a few people saying it’s good again at the minute so will do the trial and see how I get on. Hopefully get a half decent team by the end of it as well

Yeah give the trial a go. Im one of the first to be critical about the game but so far so good. Changes are squad battles is 16 games instead of 12. Can get relegated in certain divisions of rivals but theyve done it well that you cant drop below a specified division. Only downer i have is my forwards running offside all the time even when ive not triggered the player run. But ive not delved into the tactics at all. Enjoy.

Will start it tomorrow I reckon so squad battles is fresh and can use the time to get all 16 games done as I don’t think I could handle rivals just yet 😂 good you can get relegated though as I got so far last year and just got beat every game just wasn’t worth it in the end

Fired up the 10h trial, played the "Authentic" mode, it felt a bit more like football with a slower pace. Defenders are still idling without a reason, ball is like a magnet on players feet, GKs don't even rush out, there are no fouls, there's no inertia with players turning on the spot like spin wheels.

1h37m later uninstalled. If EA pays me 1 million to play the game I might think about it and 1 million is probably still low for the damage in my mental health it will cause.

Some thoughts, for what it’s worth.

Sissi in my preorder pack. After being initially underwhelmed, she is absolutely brilliant in game.

Somehow managed to win the tournament tonight. Despite initially struggling to get used to the game.

I think I’m enjoying it, but it is so far removed from real football it’s not a simulation, its an over the top arcade game where the aim is to pass as quickly as possible from one end of the pitch to the other.

Also, Goalkeepers have gone from one extreme to the other between game series, being utterly useless to being a physical wall.

Lastly, never thought I’d ever see the day Ayoze Perez being a meta card in starter teams. :giggle:

Starting to get the hang of it but I suspect that's mostly because the genuinely good players are already promoted. Taking it steady and I've only played about half a dozen games but it's fun. Slower paced build up is the key to attacking but I don't like that aggressive defending is massively unrewarding.

My pre-order Icon was the Korean striker and after him not scoring for 4 games he's banging them in left and right now.

lol

Unless they've decided to add microtransactions and gambling (sorry, surprise mechanics) to Career Mode it doesn't get touched by EA because it isn't a cash cow.

Literally been the same for over a decade bar a few absolutely meaningless additional features.

Change the UI colours, update the rosters, "tweak" the gameplay. "Look you simpletons, here's a NEW game. Now hand over £70."

Probably due to his age, Yamal was not added until he turned 17.

Yeah you're right. Assumed because he signed the pro deal he'd be on there. Bit of a shame that.

Normally quite decent at Fifa but I am diabolical at this game. Conceding 7/8 in every game in div 6.

Usually takes a few weeks for the untouched to climb out the lower divisions.

I wonder why people still give EA this much money each year for minimal improvements compared to the predecessor? For "revamping" the controls with each new installment?

For oftentimes unreliable online servers that can cut you off at any given moment?

And once the "FIFA" title was gone, so was I.

It's time-consuming and can cost you tons of money with microtransactions. FUT has been both a blessing (for EA) and a curse (a moral stain and a drag for players).

And then they shut down the servers after a while, so all that investment is gone.

Is FIFA rage still a thing? Haven't touched the title in about three years now.

It was trash long before it became EAFC.

EA’s licensing monopoly has killed the competition, and competition breeds innovation.

They just shit out the same game every year and people will buy it because they have no alternative.

Thankfully consumers are slowly starting to wise up. EAFC 25 underperformed and people voting with their wallets is the only thing EA understands.
