You could argue that United have been very unlucky as they saw Page's full potential when our manager etc quite clearly did not. It was only a fluke sending off that saw him start playing and showing exactly what United's scouts had seen all along.

Still surprised we didn't take the offer as it was decent, had a nice sell on clause plus the option to possibly loan him back to us.

The good thing there is perhaps we aren't as skint as some would make us beleive otherwise we would have taken the cash ?

At the end of the day, our club valued Page at a higher value than the United negotiators did.

Based on?

What premium? Again, it was opportunism. They thought we'd have our heads turned because we might have needed the money.

Look, I dislike United as much as anyone else but I'm pretty sure you're just inventing a narrative and trying to cram your evidence in.

They've embarrassed themselves a lot in the transfer market in the last 15 years but I'm not sure I see what they should be blushing about with Page?

Everyone was for sale, everyone has a price. We've reviewed that offer, DAY of deadline, DAY of a game. It stands to reason that considering we've held firm on Souttar, spent money elsewhere in the days leading up and day of that we won't be desperate to sell. I think that's a known at that point. You say opportunistic, as in to get a cut price deal - I say offering so late in the window, when they know we've let go of Hamza, when they may know we're letting Skipp go and do not have the time to effectively replace, it's embarrassing of them to offer and expect us to accept anything less than a stupidly high valuation, considering he's on a 4 year deal, 18, and will evidently go up in value. Martin also did say it was a "substantial" offer, he's been transparent about this, if it was a lowball as you suggest I'm sure he wouldn't have buttered it up.

I think that If Manchester United really wanted him, and I mean REALLY, he would have been gone already. I'm sure they'll be back in for him.

But back to theme, from a pure business perspective alone, the decision is correct. The lad is absolute class and will soon add 30m to the book value of the club.

They weren’t the only ones to have seen that potential.

I agree, I don't think Brussel had him in his plans until Ipswich.

He got dropped last year despite being one of our better players as well. Think we are lucky he is still here to say the least.

I mean just urgh at this being turned into a pro Top PR Exercise.

You've flogged in excess of 50-60 million worth of players and slashed the wage bill and bought in about 6 million in replacements, I should hope you are in a position to not sell every single player that comes under offer. Especially one of the more promising ones.

Absolutely. He deserves no credit for this at all

They were the only ones who put a proper bid on the table though so I'd argue they valued his potential way higher than anyone else

Doesn't really matter but carry on like he has been and sure their will be more suitors next time round

The biggest thing to come out of this link is the attitude of Page. The amount of players we’ve had over recent years desperate to leave and downing tools etc. of course he would’ve wanted to go but to keep his head down and play like he did on Tuesday is refreshing and impressive.

Exactly this

Top class attitude

Agreed very good attitude. Not rocked the boat and got on with it.

I agree totally. I’m sure we came very close to losing him this time. We do operate a bit of herd mentality on here and get jumped on when people have a different opinion. We get caught up on phrases like pure profit. I’d like to keep young diamonds like this as long as possible as they are the sort that can have the highest trajectory, galvanise supporters and propel us back up the leagues. Once gone home grown players can’t be replaced by clubs like us. We should value them higher ourselves.

Probably one of the worse halves of football ive seen from a Leicester player in a long time. Might as well of been playing for Oxford

Yes, but that's going to happen with the younger players. And it's not as if everyone else is playing a blinder.

Bit harsh to single him out! lol

He's not been that bad. I can name another 7 players who had a worse half than him.

Its not, but him and Burns were the worst by a mile. Spent the whole game passing back to the defence or a shit touch and losing the ball. Set pieces dreadful on top of that

Well, I wouldn't argue too much.

I disagree with this.

Especially as at one point it was his tracking back that was the only reason that stopped it being 5-0 which impressed me more than anything  else in that second hal (admittedly a low bar).

I do think he needs a decent DM in with him. His ability on the half turn is excellent. Hopefully he gets a base to make the most of that talent which he hasn’t got at the moment .

Bit OTT.

Probably the worst ive seen him, but thats because we are used to him being one of the better players.

Page is easy to single out because when he doesn't perform the whole team falls apart.

It's normal for Page to have an off game but when he doesn't play well we need other players who can step up.

Sadly this team has too many passengers and is too dependent on the 4 academy players being on top of their game.
