He's so young so we can't expect consistency every week or for him to run a midfield at his age. Lundstram coming into the side will be so beneficial and the experiences he has this season will be a brilliant platform for him to build on.

 

He has the raw materials and already looks a class above most players in this division. Finding that consistency and authority will be what his career hinges on.

 

He'll want to test himself at the highest level possible, that's only natural. But I do hope he stays here for the season and gets enough real experience under his belt, helps us clinch promotion and - if he's going to leave - fetches us a really good price for (hopefully) our new owners to reinvest and go again next season.

Scouts flocked to watch Louis Page illuminate Leicester City’s much-needed 4-3 win over Stockport County.

The Leicester City starlet bagged three assists, albeit only two were officially recognised, setting up goals for Liam Cullen, Emile Riis and John Lundstram as the Foxes responded well to the loss to Oxford United.

And Page was at the heart of it as, according to TEAMtalk, representatives from Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle United and Sunderland were all there to check up on the 18-year-old’s development.

 

United presence is no surprise given they were keen to sign the midfielder before the transfer deadline but City stood firm. That said the story claims he is still a ‘major target’ for United and that the Red Devils believe they have done the ‘groundwork’ to be in a strong position if/when the teenager does leave the King Power Stadium.

However, the article also throws a new and interesting name into the mix, with Borussia Dortmund said to have joined the chase having also been in attendance at Edgeley Park. It is claimed BVB will ‘continue to monitor’ City’s crown jewel.

As things stand Page is getting the game-time he needs with Russell Martin having started him in the last five matches.

 

Foxes reporter Josh Holland was thrilled by Page's display at Stockport and gave him and impressive 8/10 rating, adding: "Three assists to his name on an afternoon where he was given license to roam forward. Got himself in the referee’s book and that restricted him when trying to pinch the ball. Stayed composed throughout. Superstar."

It’s been seen by some as a blessing that we have had so much youth to fall back on and sell off or use for this level, but I can’t help but think how much we have been robbed of watching some of these lads play for us for years. Should have been able to see them develop for a few years and leave for mega fees.

They beat the first man and the keeper and have just enough dip at the end for someone at the back post to attack. Something we've missed for a long time.

Yep I was a bit worried he'd sulk and force a move to Man United but he seems to have a good head on his shoulders and a good family around him.

 

Would have been very easy for him to sulk and strop. He knows he's a talented lad and has that confidence about him. Also he's really bulked up over the summer and looks ready for 46 games of mens football this season and I don't think you could have said that about him last season.

 

He'll go next summer but he seems determined to make sure he goes about things the right way.

i like the idea of him going to Germany. I think he’d come back  in a couple of years time and be twice  the player he is now. If he gets this next move right, the world could be  his oyster.

Manchester United transfer target Louis Page has spoken out about the club's pursuit of him during the summer transfer window. The Leicester City midfielder was heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford right up until the final hours of deadline day.

A proposed move for the 18-year-old fell through after United were unable to reach an agreement on a fee with the Foxes. According to the Manchester Evening News, United's interest in Page continues, with dialogue between the clubs ongoing ahead of the January transfer window.

However, the club are anticipated to encounter competition from Arsenal, with Leicester insisting on a fee exceeding £10 million, plus a minimum of £2.5 million in add-ons - matching the sum they received from Manchester City for Jeremy Monga. Any potential deal would likely see the youngster stay with the League One outfit until the conclusion of the current campaign.

The teenager remains fully focused on the season at hand, and is confident that working under Leicester boss Russell Martin will prove invaluable to his development both in the present and moving forward.

"Being focused and stuff, the manager has helped me loads with that, he said that he wants me to stay here and he believes that I can develop into the player that I hopefully will be one day, and I believe that he will get me there as well."

As rumours intensified during the closing moments of transfer deadline day, Page was gearing up to feature in Leicester's League One fixture against Plymouth Argyle. The midfielder provided an assist in the 2-0 triumph, and his inclusion in the starting XI effectively ruled out any last-gasp switch to United before the window shut.

"For me, I was concentrating on, I knew I was playing, and I was like 'whatever goes on in the background goes on, I don't need to get involved with that'," he said.

"I was like 'right, it's a massive home game for us, I just need to concentrate on playing, playing well, and making sure we win', whatever goes on in the background will go on, if I play well then people will say good things. I think that's what I just concentrate on, playing."

He added on United's interest: "I just took it as a positive really, if clubs like that are interested in me, it's obviously down to what I'm doing on the pitch, so as long as I keep doing better and better I can let people do the talking and I'll just talk on the pitch. My parents always help me stay grounded, they just said: 'you're at Leicester now, nobody is telling us any different, so just go out there when you're playing and play with the freedom and just make sure you play well when you're playing.'".

While he remained concentrated despite the rumours surrounding his future, the closure of the transfer window until January has brought some welcome clarity. "I was obviously fully focused anyway on Leicester, but I think now that it's shut, I know that I'm staying here, everyone knows that I'm staying here," he said.

"So that talk can be put to rest and everyone's just focused on me playing for Leicester now."

The teenager established himself in Leicester's senior squad last season aged just 17. He has started each of Leicester's last five games in all competitions, and last weekend played a crucial role in three of the team's four goals during a thrilling 4-3 victory against Stockport County.

"Leicester have given me everything, they've given me the opportunities to play in the first team and I feel like I've repaid that and we've gone down, so now I've got to give back to the academy staff that got me into the first team, the first team coaches that have given me the chance," he said. "I've now got to take that responsibility and get the club back into the Championship."

He added: "We're the players (the academy products), we've seen where this club has been, I'd go as a kid, watch them in the Premier League, Champions League and I think 'I want to do that with Leicester'. I think that's the same with Sammy (Braybrooke), Bade (Aluko), Will (Alves) as well, we all want to do that.

"I think it's personal for us that we're in this situation and it's now on us to take the club out of it and get them back to where they belong."
