A friend is an Albion fan. Apparently they did well to get a result against us.

Mind boggles.

My Baggies mate said we were poor and won't be promoted playing like that.

Loved that choice to cross from Abdul yesterday. I’m certain a season or two ago he would’ve tried a shot from there but showed great development to not just whip it in aimlessly but to deliver such quality,

I’m sure our squad has been put together at a much higher cost so can see why they would be happy with a draw.

Personally think we did enough to get something more from the game. A point away is still ok. We aren’t setting the league alight that’s true enough. We need to find some form and some confidence, we appear to have little of either, but we’re still in the mix.

What did Fatawu do to get a yellow at 90+5?

Moaned at the linesman about a decision

Worth mentioning the ref disnt penalise a West Brom play for booting the ball away at our free kick and gave us three yellows for moaning at him across the game

Just rewatching this paying special attention to my good mates Ayew and Soumare.

The amount of times Ayew doesn’t initiate an intense press, make a run beyond a defender or make the right pass is just astounding. Waste

Apart from a single moment of getting away from his man the game just passes by Soumare. He plods about, only makes extremely simple passes (in a very obvious manner) and doesn’t shield the back 4. Awful.

And I counted 5 professional fouls by them without cards in the first half alone.

The sooner we get Ramsey and JJ clicking together in that midfield the better

Noticed as well presumably after struggling once he was put on the left wing he realised for the corner to be on the right hand side of the box for if the ball dropped to him

It would help if Marti just tried for once dropping Ayew and Soumare, and playing James as the other CM, and a proper striker. Might actually start scoring goals.

Marti, is typical of a person with his ideology. He wants “footballers” all over the pitch, and that’s why Ayew continues to play, because he can hold a ball up, but he can’t even do that well.

If we played a striker that was able to run in behind, he might have a bit more of a threat.

You surely are not thinking of Daka?

I am really happy at where we are at this point in the season.

We had a very turbulent and disrupted summer, however every team we have faced so far I have felt we are ultimately as good if not better than.

I am hopeful in the coming weeks, now the squad is settling, that we will click and be in a good place to push in.

My only gripe is I want more minutes for our youth players, as long term I feel this could set us apart as a club.

Think people are OTT in judging Carranza already. He's just moved country, leagues and systems. It'll take gametime and learning to get up to the level he can operate at. Whatever that is.

I don't agree with all of Marti's substitutions but I do like that he uses some early and that he uses them all - that was one of Bren's problems (same for older managers in general).

Hate that he is using BDCR but as people say, he's forced into it to an extent because the club didn't get rid of enough of the old boys. Vesty, Faes, Soumaré, Winks, BDCR, Ayew, Daka should have been sold as cheaply as necessary so that they COULDN'T be chosen. It's almost impossible to leave veteran heads out on the money they are being paid. VK is a mistake too, proven to be hopeless and needs moving on.

West Brom , Cov etc... are teams that will be in and around the playoff positions at the end of the year. That tells me that even our limited players are around the playoffs (dependant on whether we have a points deduction). I believe we will see team improvement as they get used to each other and Cifuentes system. We'll be in the top 10 at the end of 2025 and then our January window moves will decide whether we can challenge for autos, playoffs or take another year in the championship to regroup.

Certainly don't want us to change manager again this season. We need stability there. He needs another coach or two to help out, though.

Without stating the obvious, we need a decent 9 and a decent 10. The rest of the team is more than capable at this level to win the league.

I am happy we are showing lots of faith. I think we will click mid way through the season and start moving up the gears. Have faith! The foundations are there and Marti seems like a decent operator.

I also don't buy all this West Brom could have had three or four. We outplayed them in terms of the general game for 80 minutes, and like Led Hendrie and the other ex-proffesionals were saying, West Brom defended masterfully and full credit to them. They scored on the counter and defended like lions. We need to be more assertive attack.

Where West Brom got there chances, is where we opened up the game and went for it in the last 15 minutes, yes they should have scored but they didn't and ultimately we took the gamble and did. Fortune favours the brave.

Mason also seemed slightly delusional, ranting about how they should have won all the last 3 games! Very odd behaviour imo.

He at least will occupy the defenders, and press. He is limited, but he will help us offensively more than Ayew.

I must also say, I am starting to really enjoy football again. I can't put my finger on why, but it feels like we are actually trying to build something again with Marti, not just survive.

Both are poor and have different weaknesses.

Daka is quick but cannot stick anything.

Ayew can stick, but is slow.

The squad we have impressively constructed contains few rounded players.

I agree. I just feel that Daka may be a good fall for others. Eventually Ramsay will be back, and Daka’s pressing may create more space for the likes of him, Fatawu and Mavididi/Monga.

Yes it is a quandry as either of these 'forwards' still leaves a massive reliance on our wingers for goals.
