I'm not aware of any championship clubs kneeling this week. Prem clubs are doing it as part of a drive to highlight racism in and around the sport. This is a pre planned event/gesture/whatever, to coincide with the Say No to Racism campaign, scheduled for game week 8 and 9. This is not happening because of the Villa game.

It's almost like someone has used this event to stir up anger and division among supporters of this club...

A pattern across the western world

It's not Jews being banned, it's away fans of Maccabi Tel Aviv, because policing intelligence suggests they're likely to need significantly more resources to police than a typical away contigent (and they don't want to put their officers or stewards at risk) and their fans' prior behaviour has repeatedly been violent, causing property damage and chanting racist slogans. Away fans of a club being banned from attending a European fixture because police/security deem to be them a significant risk is nothing new, nor is it exclusive to Maccabi Tel Aviv — ask fans of Legia Warsaw (whose behaviour at Villa Park earned them a ban) Frankfurt, Feyenoord, West Ham, Barcelona, etc

Aston Villa's Jewish fans (I believe they have a small Jewish Supporters Group?) aren't banned from attending, nor am I aware of any Aston Villa fans being banned on the basis of their religion.

Just to let you know, the amsterdam incident, there was a small contingent of maccabi fans arrested (10 i think), and the trouble was a organised campaign to attack the maccabi fans

Yeah, I won't make light of that at all; the attack by people from Amsterdam/surrounding areas on the Maccabi fans was pre-organised (court proceedings showed whatsapp chat logs and such, and was referred to as a "Jew Hunt"), but from reading the Dutch news coverage of it they mostly failed at confronting the Maccabi hooligans who were their actual targets – I believe most of the people they ended up attacking were the Maccabi fans who were trying to avoid getting caught up with the hools, as well as some locals who refused to show ID to thugs who were indeed looking to attack anyone with an Israeli passport (or as being Jewish, as there were at least several of them using the Arabic words for Jew rather than the words for Israeli so there was definitely anti-semitic motivation there, I won't deny), and one Ukrainan refugee they mistook as being Israeli.

But AFAIK the anti-Arab chanting, ripping down Palestinian flags, vandalising property (trying to kick down doors and break windows) and attacking an Arab taxi driver (breaking his windscreen with a metal pole) happened before the attacks by the locals. A lot of Maccabi fans avoided being arrested by covering their faces and getting on the flight home before the police could identify them, conveniently helped by some CCTV footage being wiped.

For folks on either side of this 'debate', I strongly recommend you do the same thing as the player's knees, and touch grass.

Sad world we live in where the Fascist scum can`t mind their own fkin business if good people want to make a point and at the same time get away with partying in the streets waving their cheapo Chinese flags threatening to burn people alive.

About time we had zero tolerance for these sub human scum

Steve, we have an authoritarian government that wants to force us all to be carrying ID which they plan to link with various controls, they clearly have influence over the judiciary and police, who are locking people up for dissent through means of speech, and now we are banning jews from a football match which suspiciouslylooks like its due to the  demographic in the area......who is it you think are the fascist scum?

You'll always get a contingent of idiots at the football, some of our lot shamed themselves in Notts a few years back, but this is the wrong decision, we have to call it out

Hypocrisy Racism kick it out while banning Jews attending a match at Villa

You mean banning a clubs fans that triggered a near riot in Amsterdam with their loutish behaviour eufa should have banned them for a few games rather than leaving it to clubs to have to decide.

No room for racism unless you support an Israeli club.

The decision to take the knee for BLM is made by individual players, teams and their respective football leagues. The decision to ban Maccabi Tel Aviv fans was made by West Midlands police and the Birmingham Safety Advisory Group.

Who are you accusing of hypocrisy and why?

You must recognise that these fans are targetted wherever they go, and that is due to anti-semiticism. Of course some are going to go on the attack when they know theres an organised attack on them. If police can't control it, the game should be played behind closed doors
