I still think he's better than RVN, but the standard of manager we tend to appoint now is absolutely unbelievable. Who would we appoint next if he went tomorrow?

RVN wa splaying the best teams in the world.

Marti is failing against some of the worse teams in the league.

RVN was miles ahead of Marti if RVN was here the table would be looking different.

The lineup is quite literally in his hands.

I'm talking about the defence. Nelson, Okoli, Kristiansen, Souttar injured. Pereira can't play 2 games in 4 days. Thomas suspended. The defensive lineup tonight was the only one he could pick.

What on earth is that based on? You know they can both be as bad as each other right?

People are rewriting history with RVN, that was the worst football we’ve ever witnessed. Record breaking bad.

Maresca had Dewsbury-Hall, Vardy, Hermansen, Iheanacho, Justin and Ndidi. He had a much better squad.

Of course he did. But KDH, Vardy and Ndidi still flourished despite it not at all being a style they would normally cherish.

He got a tune out of Faes and Vestergaard and had Ricardo and Winks be the driving forces in that team, while Mavididi and Fatawu were genuine threats most games. All of those players are still here, so it begs the question why he simply cannot get a single good allround performance from this squad.

No one is expecting him to be first, but 13th? in this dog shit league.

It's a funny scenario really. I can't recall anything similar following us.

Not much point sacking him, even though I don't think he's the answer.

Our squad really is the pits. You can only really make an argument for us being strong on the wings, and even there we have players bang out of form. We are not getting promoted. We're simply not good enough even without the incoming points deduction.

Equally I don't think we'll go down because he seems to have the players drilled enough to squeeze out results against poorer opposition.

So what's the point sacking him? We can't afford unnecessary expenses.

As boring and tedious as it is, the sensible thing to do it probably to keep ambling on in Championship mediocrity until we can truly drain the swamp and start spending again.

The sooner fans realise we're in this for the long haul, the better. We've fvcked it beyond (immediate) repair.

I'm encouraged we're on the lookout for this Technical Director. It (hopefully) points towards a realisation for a need to rebuild. Until we're rid of the likes of Faes, Vesty, Winks, Ayew, even Pereira, that can't happen.

It's rare that such fundamental rebuilds bear fruit within a year, so we're probably looking at the rest of this season and next to consolidate.

If finances allow, maybe we'll twist in the summer, allowing a Pearson mould of manager to begin and hopefully see through the rebuild.

In my mind, Cifuentes is a caretaker.

We're in for the dullest period of following this club in recent memory.

Totally agree

Even the options of Akgun too. But also marti does command the respect and authority Enzo did.

Yeah, he should be doing better but I was responding to the comment that the squad isn't hugely different when half that starting eleven has gone.

Whatever the situation, these players should be decent enough to form a coherent performance enough not to be in the bottom  half of the championship. The manager is a 3rd rate PE teacher at best, no authority, no personality and it shows in everything we get just meh at best. Even the games we win are meh

I mean that appalling team that set some of the most heinous top flight club records beat the gimps team by goals 6-2

The current DOF isn’t fit for his role. Would you trust him to get the next appointment right?

I heard he is being "moved upstairs"?

This reshuffle needs to happen, fast.

It’s getting silly now. We was wank against Norwich and Stoke but somehow won! He’s got to immediately the blokes a fraud he doesn’t know what he’s doing 😂

He has to go.

there’s not one aspect of this side that he’s improved.

He’s taken the one thing we could do, attack down the flanks, and utterly nullified the only creative outlets we have through his system.

in midfield he’s taken our best player in James, who excels as an 8, and deployed him as a 10 where he’s ineffective.

he promised high pressing attacking football and delivered nothing of the sort. We don’t press. We don’t attack. We can’t defend. We can’t control passages of play. We constantly register a negative xg.

Yes the players are bad but by Christ he’s made them worse.

Until we have a competent Board we’ll continue to blame / sack managers. It’s really quite depressing being in this doom loop

Yet when it works we get promoted, sometimes you got to roll the dice because the outlook is so bleak.

There is nothing good about this appointment, a serious overhaul of personnel and he would drag the players down

James started of decent

Monga was full of confidence

Fatawu started off well

Yeah I agree, but is it him or the club that’s dragging them down? Is he the reason we’re not quite in a relegation battle??

I’m still not convinced that changing the manager will have any effect. It may even reinforce the idle entitlement running through the squad

Talk of play offs is totally unrealistic even without a points deduction, I think. On paper we should be doing a lot better but this group of players are so damaged mentally, so unconnected to the fans and so demotivated that anything more than hoping we limp to safety is unrealistic. The best case scenario is that Marti gets us to around 50 points after a points deduction - the sort of stuff he delivered 2 seasons running at QPR with a worse squad. We can then offload him and all of the many out of contract big earners next summer, allowing the new manager the financial headroom to build a brand new, hungry squad of players. The problem with this is that Top and Rudkin will still be here to oversee this rebuild, which gives scant hope it will be successful. How did it come to this?

The promise of a high press attacking style was such an exciting prospect… that’s my biggest disappointment with him, that there is zero evidence of us even trying to play like that
