whoareyaaa Posted 7 January Posted 7 January (edited) To be able to compete at the top you need as the old saying goes a 20 goal a season player (striker) We have Jordan Ayew, who has spent most of his career on the wing. Edited 7 January by whoareyaaa 1

It helps, but you don't NEED one.. Sunderland went up 24/25, top scorer, Isidor with 12. Sheffield United 22/23, top scorer Ndiaye with 14 Watford 20/21, Sarr with 13 There are plenty of other examples of sides going up with strikers on 17/18 league goals.. Doesn't really matter as long as the goals are evenly spread, a big issue this season has been an ineffectual left side.. I don't disagree that Ayew is rubbish tho.. Edited 7 January by Langston 5

Yep, 17/18 league goals is basically a 20 goal a season striker. Those sides probably had better players contributing to the team though, while ours lacks any depth esp in key positions like full backs and strikers. 1 4
Collymore Posted 7 January Posted 7 January Strutting around the pitch at the end of the WBA game like he'd won the FA Cup. Absolutely mind boggling. I'd have been too embarrassed to show my face after serving up that s**tshow. 1

And that was exactly my point!!!

He was buzzin, it was as if we’ve just beaten a premier league team in FA cup having bean battered all game

whoareyaaa Posted 7 January Posted 7 January Just now, Langston said: I didn't say 12 was close to 20!!!! If a player gets 17 goals in a season they are clearly hedging towards a 20 goal a season player (it's a phrase btw) 2

It’s a phrase that says you need 20 goals. if you needed 17 the phrase would be a 17 goal a season striker.

Greg2607 Posted 8 January Posted 8 January I'm confused, does a 20 goal a season striker need 20 goals or not? are we rounding up now? Does a 6/10 performance become a 10/10 because it's closer to 10 than 0? 1
Popular Post GingerrrFox Posted 8 January Popular Post Posted 8 January The bloke is a ****ing whopper. Comes out today and says certain player’s made it clear they wanted to leave the club irrespective of who the manager was because they felt their time was done. Then seems to be surprised that those players essentially downed tools and helped create the situation we are in now. Irrespective of how much those players were being paid they should have been ostracised from the group instead of allowing that culture to pollute the squad. Get both him and those above him to ****. 5
Benji Posted 8 January Posted 8 January If I have any sympathy for him, it's about how sh1te it must have been arriving at the training ground and seeing how deeply unbothered half the squad was. He will have known about our off-field troubles, but getting in a room with this bunch of miserable underperformers who have a sense of entitlement far exceeding their quality must have been a huge shock. He's then probably thought 'well ok, I can win these over with enthusiasm and ideas a bit like Enzo', and then he's had that immediately sucked out of him by the usual suspects. The "all smiles" social media posts probably couldn't be any further from reality. The mod probably needs to shout "say cheese" as they walk around the training pitch. 2
Analysethis Posted 8 January Posted 8 January Imagine the situation he inherited. Players relegated and down moods and I presume salaries reduced, loads others want out, loads contracts were up at the end of the season too.Its a horrible situation to inherit, especially when so many major players decided to leave too (Vards, Ndidi, Hermansen, JJ, BEK along with others I didnt give two tosses about like Coady, McAteer, Coulibaly, Ward etc). I have said I wouldn't care if we changed managers, however I like the fact that so many young players have been drafted into the squad and trusted and that he has binned so many first teamers like Faes, Winks, Soumare after initially trusting them. Thats not so easy to do with your job on the line. He persists with the youngsters despite none really tearing it up for us so to speak. I like that. A new manager IMO wont be playing the kids as Marti has, so I`d like us to get rid of some moredead wood and get him to bring in a player or two he wants and not free transfer GKs. 3 1

Rudkin and Top probably told him to try and incorporate them though, one of the reasons Ruud got sacked. Let's not blame it all on the manager he has his hands tied behind his back 2
