As much as saying “we’re only 4pts off the play offs” is a meme/bit of fishing… that is a good distance to get someone new in and find some momentum. Pull the trigger.

This is the annoying thing. We are some how by the miracle or James and Fatatwu pulling it out the bag, not far away.

If we had a real football person running it they'd pull the plug immediately. When we end up 12th in the league, there will be several moments to look back on with regret, but this will be one of the biggest.

We all know we are getting pumped at cov and Wrexham. And that will see him finally sacked. Why wait for the inevitable?

Because we always do with this lot.

They are big time Charlie’s. They won’t respect him enough that’s my view. Some of the players do run for him. James and Skipp cover a lot of ground.

Still his job stop making excuses for him.

Chris Wilder interviewed for the job im the summer and apparently really wanted it. Funnily enough, his record in the championship at every club apart from Sheffield United is actually quite bad. Having said that, I find it hard to believe that he wouldn't be getting more put of this squad. He certainly wouldn't tolerate stats like this.

Someone at this club needs to make the right decision and sack him.

That performance was absolutely abysmal.

We didn’t deserve a single point tonight, let alone three. West Brom were completely robbed.

It’s painful to watch. Fatawu and Monga are constantly coming short to receive the ball, leaving us with no threat in behind our opponents full back. We then end up relying on James or BDCR to run into the spaces where the winger should be.

For the love of God, change the formation to a 4-4-2 and play with two strikers up front.

Do you think he will get the boot if we lose at Cheltenham?

Nope. I think he is here to stay, unless we drop into the bottom 3. Sad but true.

Completely outplayed tonight and deserved nothing.

get rid asap and while the window is open and we can get a few loans in that the new man wants.

id be going for a warnock, big Sam type appointment at this point. Get us organised and fighting. That could be enough to close the gap, even with the terrible squad we have.

You can’t get excited. Thats the kicker. Shit, late goal. Worldly, 4 points from playoff. We could hit a run.

Reality. 0-3 Cov, 0-2 Wrexham next two. Followed by 1-0 win v Oxford.

Sounds reasonable,  stop being so entitled

He isn’t being sacked by the prat’s after a win.

the cycle starts again. We need 3 defeats in a row or its not game over

I don't think he's getting sacked regardless . I think Top has written this season off.  Points deduction incoming.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: He won't be sacked until March at the earliest.

The season will continue like this, win a few, lose a few more.

At the moment we are averaging 1.42 a game which gets us around the 65 point mark at the end of the season.

Which is top half.

If we get that we probably need to get deducted 15 points to get in trouble.

Board has to sack him ideally or decide to back him a give him so extra tools like a CF, RB and LB.

This manager can't motive his team, we always start so badly either in 1st or 2nd half. What does he even do with his team talk?

Posted (edited)

It can't be said often enough.

Cifuentes is a symptom, not a cause of the current malaise at City.

If we had the same squad now that we had when he arrived, we'd be comfortably in the Championship top six.

Instead, Rudkin flogged a shedload of players and hoped the academy lads, plus a couple of loanees, would be able to cover the shortfall.

Except, Jordan James apart, they're not.

As a result, Seagrave has become even more toxic, because senior players know neither the squad or manager are good enough to achieve promotion.

So the likes of Winks, Soumaré and Faes - three of the highest paid players in this league - sit idle for months.

As both Ruben Amorim and Enzo Maresca have found in recent days, creating a "bomb squad" at a club brings dire consequences, especially when overseen by directors of football installed or promoted way beyond their ability.

TL:DR Sacking Cifuentes to bring in yet ANOTHER dud (the fourth in a row) would be a monumental waste of time, money and effort.

Unless we are going to improve the team by adding quality players then bringing in a new manager is a waste of time. The quality of the team coupled with a points deduction spells mid table at best.

This is just getting boring now. Once again bailed out by individual quality. We have no tactics of note, no pressing, no discernible patterns of play.

The stats around KM run and sprints is abhorrent too. Every fan should be furious we're bottom of that list. And I'm not having it people saying "that's not Martí's fault, that's a fitness thing, and down to the coaching staff/King from early pre-season." Absolute nonsense—by all accounts fitness levels were pretty damn good with all the work that was put in without a manager. That stat is down to a combo of the manager's instructions, and players not buying into them.

Couldn’t agree more. In those early games under Kingy we looked fit, well prepared and  we adopted a high intensity press, we looked very fit and very well drilled out of possession, this is on the manager as this is either a tactical decision or the players are just not responding to him.

Using the Championship as the only point of reference is being very selective here. Middlesbrough didn't work out but two months at Watford is clearly not long enough to judge. Look to all his previous jobs, albeit outside the Championship, and you'll find a different story.
