MGLCFC Posted 26 January Posted 26 January We need a pragmatic manager IMO. Someone who can put his ideas to the players that they buy into (like Enzo did - and I'm not suggesting Enzo's style was right, but he got the players playing for him because they believed it worked). I think Enzo was also very strong willed and took no sh1t from players or those above (a bit like Pearson). First and foremost, we need a manger that can galvanise the squad, get them playing for the badge and each other and change tactics to a faster more aggressive style of play and less of this 20 passes sideways and backwards. Therefore, on a short term contract until the end of the season I wouldn't be against someone like Big Sam.

There is literally nothing about this club that was the same 25 years ago. Yeah that's an entirely fair point, sorry. Like the rest of us, I think I'm just tired and grasping at straws 1

Aleksz Posted 26 January Posted 26 January Rowett until the end of the season (interim) is fine, anything more and this ownership has fallen for another long hanging fruit trap. 1

Give your head a wobble. Have a look at what Rowetts done and look at where we are and likely to be with the points deduction. Hull sacked Rosenior and now he’s at Chelsea. Bournemouth sacked Howe and now look at him? Everton sacked Dyche but Forest still wanted to appoint him because of their situation? Same with West Ham and Nuno who was sacked by Forest. Sheff Utd sacked Heckingbottam and then Preston hired him? Same as above with Alex Neil and Stoke/Norwich. 4

Bored of people judging managers on their last job and not considering circumstance. Look at the bigger picture and park the pub opinion. 2 2
winteriscoming Posted 26 January Author Posted 26 January Hassenhutl or Mowbray for me. I know some on here don’t think much of Hassenhutl but he’s a decent manager. He’s done relatively well wherever he’s been. Not outstanding but not dreadful. Which is where we are now. Rather have either of them over Rowett. Would rather we look abroad but that’s not gonna happen. 1

Gravel Posted 26 January Posted 26 January Just put us out of our misery and appoint that tw@t Martin on a three year contract. Then sack him in 6 months when it's realised that he's another complete waste of time and space. Rinse and repeat.

Unfortunately a lot on here only look at a small part of his Southampton reign, completely ignoring the good work he did there and in Germany. 1

HankMarvin Posted 26 January Posted 26 January Rather someone out of work than any suggestions of paying compensation for a manager. We are a club that’s not even replaced the loan striker yet, so it would appear every penny counts
BrilliantFox Posted 26 January Posted 26 January 2 minutes ago, Tommy Fresh said: Ignoring when I pointed out to you United appointed Carrick because it kind of ruined your point Carrick is a better manager than Rowett though. Carrick was also appointed as interim and mainly because he's a United legend. None of those 3 points are applicable to Rowett. 1
Pliskin Posted 26 January Posted 26 January Ralph would be a good shout. He won’t take any shit, and would get us working hard. 4

He kept Southampton up for 2 seasons. He’s also done ok wherever else he’s been. It’s not incredible but it’s certainly not terrible his record. 1
