thank god we have an FA Cup weekend just gotta hope by some minor miracle we can get someone in before Stoke.
However reading this thread makes me think Top and Rudders are going to buckle soon and offer the role to someone totally unsuitable just to get a manager in

Cleverley isn’t exactly doing great at Plymouth. Would he swap that to be assistant to Nige? Bassett/Adams style?

I don’t understand why Top wont appoint NP. Wasn’t it Top that reinstated NP, when Vichal, supposed to have sacked him in 2014

Other way around I always thought?

Also, don’t forget his Brentford days.

And Walsall

From his time at Walsall

Taking over managerial duties with his side nine points adrift at the foot of League One, Smith managed to steer Walsall out of the drop zone before the season's end.

He took Walsall to the 2015 final of the Football League Trophy, a 2–0 defeat to Bristol City, which was Walsall's first appearance at Wembley Stadium.

Left them in a much stronger position that found to go to Brentford

Brentford finished the 2017–18 season in ninth-place and were "widely regarded as the Championship's entertainers" after Smith built an attractive passing style of play on a shoestring budget.

Position wise they were where he found them but obviously set on the way to go up by then and went to Villa.

Took over Villa in 15th in the Championship and struggling and got them to and won the playoffs that season and kept them up. Got to the league cup final, beating us in the semis.

Norwich didn’t go very well but they have hardly been strong for a number of years.

Came to us and couldn’t keep us up but you cannot pin it on him.

Seems to be going well at Charlotte.

Overall it’s an impressive record, for where we are at. He just isn’t deemed fancy because he’s call Dean from the West Midlands lol

Some good links as well. Sadly no Shakey any more but Walsh and Fuchs as well as Terry. Not saying they’d all come but he has a network.

Maybe, I’m not sure. I do remember it was about the same time of the year (Feb)

He won’t want it, he doesn’t get on with John Rudkin.

If he's been at the training ground, as suggested, then he can't be that averse.

Popping in, and working with someone is very different…..

Not true. Does want it. Club said “no thanks, not at the moment” a couple of weeks back.

Mike Stowell on When You’re Smiling is absolutely pushing for NP to come back. He admitted that they’d been together just a few days ago. Suggests to me that Stowell at least knows NP would come back.

To me it’s an absolute no brainer. Get the messiah back and keep us up. Give him a big old bonus and then reevaluate in the summer.

Personally, I’d make NP DoF in the summer and get Rudkin binned off.

Top - just do something ffs.

It did indeed sound like Stowell knew that Pearson  would come back if on a temporary basis if he was asked. It must have cropped up when he met him earlier this week. I wasn't as much of a diehard Pearson fan as some were, but I suspect Pearson alongside King until the end of the season may be our best option at the moment (better, in my view, than getting Dyche in). And it seems like Pearson has indicated he would accept it. Which of course means the club hasn't even spoken to him about it yet.

Says it all doesn't it? They should be down on bended knee.

NO WAY RUDKIN LETS NP In the Building

NP’s letter to the board after his sacking was scathing of the power grab by Rudkin

Whelan backed NP, and Rudkin hated her from that point forward

Everything NP said in the letter came to pass (although ten years later)

no way is NP ever coming back while Rudkin is in the position he is in

Also stupid. You need some intelligence and talent spotting skills to appoint the right people, he has neither. The only positive is that Mike Stowell mentioned on the WYS pod, that Tom Cleverley and Nigel Pearson were at Seagrave a few days ago. Hopefully the great man could be coming back.

That's not what was said I don't think. Cleverly is the Plymouth manager, Stowell I think is a coach down there. NP was also down there with them and said they were reminiscing. They weren't at Seagrave

Pearson wont come whilst Rudkin is here. That toxic inept clown would have to leave the club but it seems his work is not yet complete, he still has things to turn to the most toxic shit ever. It would be great if Nige came in and gave the useless **** some home truths.

I’ve just listened, Stowell is saying Pearson came to visit him and Cleverley at Plymouth. Where they’re both working.

Edit: just seen already posted

I’m literally listening to this now, and granted I don’t always pick up on some of the subtleties because I’m working at the same time, but I really didn’t get that from this.

He mentioned Nigel in passing. I’d like him to come back, no doubt, but I really think some of you need to give this obsession a rest.

Edit: I’ve just got to the section where he says he would have loved for them to have called Nigel to work along side King.

Fair point.

A lot of very trusted sources have confirmed this as well within a day or two of Marti going, quite staggering it's not already been done.

3 weeks, 3 wasted games and one of our most damaging results in our history and absolutely no movement. No rumours, no links, nothing. Remarkable.

The saddest thing is, its completely inline with expectations.

I said the moment Marti got sacked, they will hope king is the answer, they will give him 3 games and only after that when it inevitably fails will they start to look.

And here we are, exactly as expected.

Top and Rudkin will need to accept change if they bring in Pearson. Depends on how absolutely bloody minded they are, even in our current predicament.
