With Souttar looking like he’ll be off, I’d be starting Aluko at CB. All the attributes to be a top player there.

He did, reminded me a little of Fofana (though obviously not at the same level).

 

We badly need a CB who has the ability to carry the ball out of defence - Nelson was good at it but obviously he’s out the picture.

 

I think it’s a vital characteristic to have in a Russel Martin team, otherwise the play will quickly become slow and ponderous. Hopefully he makes the right choice.

I love that when he gets on he isn’t trying to play safe he’s trying to make a real impression. He’s a brave footballer and we will need that with Martin ball

Should be rotated between CB and RB throughout the season, would annoy me to not see him start at least 20 games this season

Ultimately it’s his fault he got red carded but if my memory is correct Fatawu absolutely shafted him that game giving the ball away so cheaply

no way he can start at CB. too lightweight and prone to over running the ball. left back maybe.

Came on after Okoli got sent off against Charlton and played centre half and was probably our best player

Don’t forget he was next to Vestergaard and Faes who bombed up the pitch and left him as the last man.

Yeah last season he had some moments where he was confident to drive out with the ball and showed the clowns up that are too scared to make a decision and take a risk.

Sadly we don’t like fullbacks to do anything other than not move and pass sideways.

We are lucky we can choose between Aluko and Joseph at right back. He's not a centre back yet.

I wouldn't mind him if we were playing a 3 or 5 at the back. But not currently with a 4 / tucked in RB. In that formation i think he's currently a back up on both sides.

Imagine talking about last season and the sending off were very difficult to talk about, especially if its true around french speaking players treatment of him. Our experienced players let him down massively that day, as did Marti for not bedding him in properly and being overly reliant on Ricardo. Good interview, and i hope he becomes a great player for us.

What’s the rumour around the French speakers?
