Long winded way of agreeing with me mate

I'm saying I don't mind that they're trying to get us promoted while it isn't impossible. And there is an unlikely scenario that could play out in which Antonio helps to make it happen.

As long as it's for this season only, it feels like a low risk and (relatively) low cost gamble.

But yeah, we probably don't go up and it'll have been a bit of a waste.

He is a technically poor player who relied on pace, power and an unusually prodigious leap. If he's 35, broken his leg in 4 places, and was already losing pace according to west ham fans; you all need to lower your expectations significantly.

He's going to be on a par with Ayew at best.

I think the only reason we are looking at him is because he's free and the club has decided it won't spend any money this year on transfers.

To get us up from where we are now would take 5/6 signings to hit the ground running and our manager to suddenly become tactically competent, neither of these are going to happen.

It’s shit that this is where we are as a club, but I genuinely think he improves us and we are currently at risk of going down with a points deduction. If he ended up scoring a few goals to keep us up then fair enough.

That said, a player declining who then nearly dies in a car crash and can’t get another club is not filling me with confidence.

He hasn't played for a year! Realistically you're looking at him getting up to speed in February at a push. He seems like a decent pro but I just don't think our fate at either end of the table hinges on this signing and all it does it shunt promising youngsters down the pack and kick the rebuild can down the road.

He'll score 5 goals as we finish 11th.

4 more than Daka

On his own wouldn’t change us into a top side, but having an actual striker who can back in and hold the ball and can run in behind and finish and win a header could make a massive difference for our other players, make more space for James/BDCR, stop the recent trend of 5/6 players surrounding Fatawu at all times. Ayew/Daka can be handled by one man, even an unfit Antonio I would fancy in a wrestling match with some of the lumps we will play over them

I hate this forum sometimes. There’s always a jump to comment grand statements like “everyone always moans”. Mark, I’m sure you are loving hosting forum infrastructure for insightful comments like that…

Why is someone “negative” if they are making connections to trends and data points that make actual sense?

A professional footballer who uses his legs to run has broken both of them and hasn’t kicked a ball in anger for over a year… was on a podcast before that moaning about how he couldn’t get a sniff, when the WHU fans heard that, they pointed out that he was looking leggy and ineffective for them. Add to the fact we have a history of piling deadwood on ridiculous wages

Yet, when you call that out you’re met with pages of “people are negative”.

What do you want, LCFC fans? Do you want Stoke, Birmingham, Bolton, etc? Or do you want your club to actually turn the corner? Because this signing is not showing signs of learning and growth AT ALL.

These types end up being wrong in the long run nearly every time. Makes me giggle if anything else days.

At this stage, who genuinely gives a ****?

Exactly my thoughts.....We aren't going up or down this season.....it's just going to be a season of draw a few, lose a few with the odd win.I really don't think paying another player money for 6 months we haven't got is going to make a load of difference. We need to get our prioritys right, build a team in this division and go from there.Their need's to be joined up thinking and getting a 35 year old with one leg who's not played for over a year and paying him to stay mid table is not it!

Don’t really see a problem with this one as long as it’s a short term contract. Obviously a gamble but if it works then his experience could bring a lot to the team and hopefully a few goals.
his age means this is short term and proves if nothing else how skint we are if we’re going for free transfers with broken legs.
Hope it’s the heartwarming football story and not the ohh what a pity that didn’t work.

This would just confirm that Dufkin is an agent for Standard Life Pension Top-ups.

Please go and get Andros Townsend to make us a super power in walking football.

Unless we somehow got him on a pay as you play deal no thanks

You just know Rudkin would give him some stupid deal and probably unsurprisingly he turns out to be nothing like was after properly smashing up his leg and not playing for over a year

Much rather take a punt with a young striker on loan
