What a complete let down.
It’s a tv show and if you’re a traitor lie and cheat the best you can.
It feels so obvious that Maya will win all by not doing a great deal and staying under the radar.
As well as being not in the least bit clever when it’s absolutely necessary.

Well it's quite obvious now that this is the episode/moment when he had his breakdown and they had to stop filming.

He's martyred himself but I don't think it takes enough heat of Maya and Kenny as long as the remaining faithfuls stick with the murder in plain sight angle.

It's a shitty way to have yourself outed and make it that easy but he actually played it so decent and sensibly right up until that moment.

I don't think it ruins the whole series.

Appreciate what people are saying but to me, that was the most enjoyable part of the entire series. He left on his own terms and he gave the faithful a chance of winning it, which is what we wanted all along. I also wonder if there is more to it and he was asked to confess as otherwise it would have been the most boring finale with the Traitors walking to victory. I thought that what he did was brilliant!

He had a breakdown? I know he was annoyed about the phone call thing to his wife, but didnt know anything more than that?

Pretty sure I read before the series started that he got really anxious and nervous during one part of filming that they had to pause, and he left the set for a while before returning. I'm presuming it was from what occurred in tonight's ep!

Maya has just listed the Traitors off to Michael. Someone has to pick up on that surely?

She admitted when Ross was killed, Maya, James, Kenny, Jerry and Sharon were in the library with Ross. Jerry and Sharon are gone, confirmed faithfuls, so one of the other 3 must be a traitor.

He threw himself under the bus because he wasn't enjoying it and he could help take some heat off Maya and Kenny.

The faithful had completely clocked that it was one of those 3 in the library and if he was one of only two traitors left, I think he would've caved in even more and he knew he was done.

Had I been a traitor I'd have long ago planted the seed that spraying the perfume in the room it was actually in was stupid (which it was) and that a clever traitor could've taken it elsewhere, sprayed, and returned it.

I ended up googling and found out about the panic attack instantly linked it to this. The Sun seem to be going down the same vein. He's had a breakdown on set and they've had to get him out I think.

Was listening to The Rest is Entertainment who seemed to hint that the rumours of what it was like on set were true.

Game needs a rest. Everyone has watched so much of it there isnt a way to play the game or a twist they can add that will enhance the game. Everyone just goes "well last time" or "ive never seen that go well" and now a unique way to play it has been ruined. Every series now it will be "well maybe they are doing the reluctant traitor" or whatever.

Choice or not, it came across to me, whether that is from the edit or not, James didnt want to play the game by the rules and this group of faithfuls were just moronic and couldnt find a traitor who isnt put infront of them. Came in to play a game, decided which role he wanted to play and when that changed he wanted to bail and instead of fighting for it with a few simple deflections, he just crumbled and all but went "didnt want to play anyway", took his ball and gone home.

Then you have Michael Sheen acting like he's Poirot for going "i think you are a traitor" and the person saying "yes" before they even voted. They make last year's who couldnt get Alan Carr out look like super sleuths.

Kenny can still win it, but they need to grt rid of Michael. I think i just dont like this group of people who are just insufferable morons and the only one with a brain in their head who has dominated the direction of the game for 5 weeks just went "nah. They wouldn't let me walk so I just waited for you guys to point a finger at me then I could walk", which means you know he didnt give a f, when everyone watching was invested.

If the fauthfuls win, they dont deserve to at all. They have fumbled in the dark and been handed a chance due to this choice, whether it was intentional or forced by producers or whatever.

Acaster was an acquaintance from the Northampton music scene before he was a comic. I didn't make the connection that it was the same bloke until about 5 years ago when he mentioned the name of the band he was in on a popular music production podcast (this was mid-late 00s and he had massive hair at the time).

I recall him being pretty reserved and absolutely not an always-on, constant-gag attention seeker like many comics are.

I've heard first-hand from someone who has been a contestant on Traitors what the production is like and it sounds like a pretty intense experience.

I wouldn't be surprised if he comes out and says he hated this whole thing and works it into some of his material.

Even when the cameras are off the game is still being played so you cant really ever be turned off. Not like they go "right, cameras are on. Go do something suspect" or whatver and I assume the house is like Big Brother.

Sounds like this series has made the flaws both behind the scenes and in front of the camera come out.

I like James Acaster but perhaps he made a mistake going on the show or certainly should have turned down the option of being a traitor. That it never went to a vote was bit of a damp squib. Obviously none of it really matters but the series has been a bit flat. Pleased that Michael and James B finally thought of looking at the quiet ones like James A and Maya

Just listened to the Rest is Entertainment reaction podcast, and you could tell Marina Hyde was seething and Richard Osman was just the voice of reason, basically had to spell it out to her why it was fine and stop her going on a huge rant about it lol

I think that's a bit harsh to be honest. Given the rumours that came out at the start of the season about how uncomfortable he was with his social anxiety in there, I don't think it takes a genius to read between the lines and see that that was quite probably staged to give him an out.

It's a celebrity game show, don't think we really need to be that harsh about it.

I don't actually agree that that's what gave Hannah Fry up to be honest. I don't know why people latched on to that so much, the traitors could have recruited anyone, not just those two. She did, however, have absolutely no poker face and just wasn't a good traitor. But that's on Maya, really. As was recruiting James - two of the only people on the show that said they wanted to be faithful at the start. Maya is quite probably the worst traitor in traitor's history lol - she's been mostly anonymous and when she has been decisions they've been naff.

I'm not convinced. If she wins, to be honest, I'll feel it's a bit staged to be honest. I think they've flipped. She needs to murder Michael because he won't end the game when she's in it and as soon as she murders Michael she's then got to go on the charm offensive and pretend it's a set up and she's being framed but she's just not charismatic enough or a good enough liar.

Think she's a bit snookered. Only real chance she has is Kenny being loyal to her. If he's got any sense and throws her under the bus, he might win. But I reckon otherwise the faithful have this wrapped up imo. Especially after what happened last time.

Part of me think James Acaster has thrown the game but the other part of me just realises that the faithful were diabolical and were never going to get them out.

This year has been a bit of a fail IMO. Hasn't lived up to the expectations set from last season but then I do think this cast was full of too many similar characters. I suppose it's harder to get a wider spread when you're looking for entertaining celebrities but even so the game has been pretty dull IMO. Very few decent twists and turns that weren't just the traitors telling the faithful that they were traitors.

Even in this episode Kenny and Maya pretty much explicitly reveal their identities and the faithful don't pick up on it. Kenny literally says "as a traitor myself" at the round table and Maya loudly says "To killing them" when making a toast at breakfast lol

It's a shame but they don't have many genuinely sharp people on there and the traitors have had to put in minimal effort to defend themselves.

I see your point, although I wasn’t aware of any of this, but there were easier outs than just coming out and telling them verbatim in a way which feels like it’s ruined the show a little bit.

I do think like you say though, something has obviously happened and this bit has been staged to let him leave so fair enough if that’s the case.

He’s clearly a lovely guy and to be fair, he also said he never wanted to be a traitor but he’s chosen to go on the show and that’s a possibility of how it plays out. I’d say I probably suffer with similar at times, and while I absolutely love the show and it would be a dream to go on it, I’d probably never do it for these reasons.

But yeah, I guess calling him a ****ing idiot is a bit harsh having slept on it 😂.
