He could fail it on purpose to stay at Newcastle if he so wanted.

People seem to forget we are shipping 2 goals a game.

And in desperate need for leaders.

We absolutely need a player like him. But one that stays fit…

Now a striker

Newcastle fans love him. Captained them to promotion under Benitez.

Leader. Make him captain straight away.

I’m starting to think we didn’t reveal Soumare total because we actually got a decent amount for him.

Remains to be seen what happens tomorrow but this won’t be a cheap signing wages wise.

Good leadership option I guess but I said the same about Coady… if it’s a permanent deal I dread to think what wages/years we’ve offered to beat 6 other championship clubs

If he was fit it would be a no brainer. Unfortunately I can see a scenario where we see him play less than 5 games and even if he does his legs are probably completely gone. Ricardo was one of the top 3 right backs in premier league at one point, but look at him now. Can imagine a similar effect here.

Perfect for him really.

Gets to move home and preserve a decent amount of his wages

Negative, negative, negative. Every signing a negative.

Been plenty of positivity in this thread

We’ve not exactly had a good recent success rate

From the Newcastle forum:

The time has probably come that he’s no longer at the level required. But it shouldn’t be forgotten that it was only two seasons ago he played in 5 of our 6 CL matches and didn’t look out of place.

He’s been an excellent player.
