you do know most clubs don't just wait for agents to come and say "my client is available"

How do you know out of interested?

He’s signing permanently not a loan, I think.

Oh right, probably even more downside to the deal then!

We’ve not learned our lesson from the Reid, Ayew and Antonio fiascos.

We signed Coady for muh leadership and look what that did. Sign players for tangible reasons please LCFC, it’s not much to ask for

on this occasion, permanent is better than loan. If we can keep fit and not on silly wages

it's the obvious inference from the fact that we only seem to sign from one or two agencies. There's clearly no proactive recruitment happening

A punt of a signing because he's had injury issues. If he hadn't had those issues then Newcastle wouldn't move him on. If we get him back fit we've got a commanding centre back who'll be invaluable to our back line. Risk worth taking as long as the salary is reasonable.

And his late in the day it all is

Is this a loan or a permanent deal? I know he's out of contract in the summer but talk of agreeing personal terms makes it feel more permanent. And if it is hopefully no more than an 18m contract and heavily weighted to appearances.

Think some fans need to have a look at where we are, how bad the board have ran this club and acknowledge that this would be a good signing considering our predicament.

Board are getting zero praise from me, I am firmly KP out but this is the kind of character we need around the current squad. Ricardo is one of my favourite ever players to play for our club but he isn't someone who will run a dressing room like Lascelles - I think he is worth the punt.

Don't like how late it always is - obviously had to wait for the Soumare departure before we could get anyone in which shows the shambles upstairs yet again. But worth a gamble despite his injury record, just hopefully on a fair wage.... but I wont hold my breath.

We have no idea if it's a good signing because it won't be defined as a good signing purely based off how good a defender Jamaal Lascelles is.

If he's signing on an 18 month contract, at most, and on a modest wage and if he stays fit enough to be available for 70% of our competitive matches in that period then it's a great bit of business.

If he's signing on a 3 year contract with a Premier League wage and doesn't have the legs or the health in general to be available when we need him then it's a ****ing terrible signing.

Especially as all the loan signings we have to include the caveat "if he stays fit".  We do need fresh blood with no connections that will speak the truth to the players.  The managers and coaches seem to be milquetoast at best at motivating and correcting errors.

It's not really possible I'm wrong tbh. We don't have any money.

welllll… sort of  we’ve saved a lot on wages with Soumare  and Faes leaving…if there’s any club stupid enough to convert that to a transfer fee then it would be us.. NOTHING would surprise me with the current set up..

you might even be able to add Vardy, Ndidi to the wages saved too..

But our wagebill to revenue ratio is harrowing and needs to come down, that's not really money we can spend.

Him, Souttar and Nelson are a good first choice 3, Okoli as back up and Vestegaard can leave

I keep forgetting Souttar exists !

Correct but the current ownership don't have a clue on spending - they've got it wrong the past few seasons and are probably working outside the parameters again and it's tomorrows problem. I'm not sure anyone really knows tbh
